Ok thanks - which address do i send the 1st letter to?

I sent request for statements to my branch and then all other letters via email.
  • I need some serious moral support here!

I sent all of the letters off to the Nat West a couple of months ago and deadline after deadline passed with no response from the bankers! I rang them to make sure that they had received all of my letters and they informed me that they had but that due to the large volume of claims that it was going to take about a month for a response. (My heart bleeds for the poor overworked parasites!)

Undeterred, I pressed on and it's now at the stage where yesterday I went onto the HMCS website and started the court proceedings. It's under 5k by the way!

I'm just really worried that something is going to go wrong!

I need reassuring that other people have taken it this far without hearing anything from the bank and had success from it!

    Please tell me good things!!!!!!!

Dont worry. I was in the exact situation.

I filled a cliam on MCOL and they even acknowledged it. And then out of no where I got offer for full amount.

I sent my first letter 26th Feb.
    Second letter 14th March
Filled a claim against natwest on 3rd April.
They acknowledged claim on 20th april and I recived a letter that they are going to defend it.
23rd April got offer, 30th April money recieved.

All the way not once I called Natwest or received any correspondence from natwest.
stick to your deadlines and make sure you send everything recorded delivery. Eventually they will give in.

    hope that helps!
  • Its great to hear its all worked out for you. I have just filed my claim tonight against Natwest, so fingers crossed!! I just hope I done it right!

Lots of new people to the thread - great to see more of us taking on Natwest!!

Lots of you 'newbies' are experiencing all the same feelings that we 'oldies' experienced when we started out on this road, and hopefully you're reading through the thread and seeing that yes, this can be done! Here's a few tips from an 'oldie's' perspective:-

Don't feel intimidated at the thought of taking on the bank to get back what is your money. Yes, they're a big institution, but remember that they have had to refund literally thousands upon thousands of people with money they took unlawfully.

Don't be worried if they defend your claim and it goes to Court. Many a time they then go on to refund you all your money, even before the court date. And if it gets to the court date, they simply don't show up to defend themselves - result: you get your money back!

You set the timescales - see Martins article for template letters and the timings of letters. If you speak to them during the process and they mutter to you about them being 'very busy' or that 'its going to take several weeks' - you simply don't have to fit in with them. It is up to them to fit in with you! You might choose to wait, or maybe simply can't afford the court fees - its your choice. Don't forget, the Financial Ombudsman will take up your case if taking it to court isn't an option.

Do ask questions here - many of us have had the same questions in the past and one or more of us will come along and try to help. There are also the seasoned veterans like Rex Mundi, Martin and Edinburghlass who have a wealth of experience and advice, who will help to point you in the right direction.

Good luck to us all !! :T

    Hi Guys,
Just received statements from natwest, im still a little confused, on my statement it has all the 'DD charges', the 'referral charges', and the 'card misuse' charges labeled, on each statement there is also 'interest' labeled then underneath 'charges' are labeled. The charges seem really odd amounts, ie one month its £9 the next could be £40 whilst the interest always stays around the same £10-£14 mark. What are these 'charges'??? and do they relate to the overdraft interest?? also can i claim them back???
    Any help would be great.
    Cheers

Hi, just need to clear something up ~ I have sent my letters to Nat west heard nothing- so i sent the letter with schedule of charges plus interest to 135 bishopsgate address, but i have read on here about a different address and also an email address- does this mean that you can request your charges back via email? also the 0800 telephone number, do you then chase up your claim with that? i have had no reply to any letters i have sent, and i only sent my schedule on 30/04/07 by recorded delivery... what do i do now? phone? or resend the whole lot to the different address- hertfordshire- i think?!

    sorry- i'm just so confused!!!!

    Thanks in advance

hi -has anyone received a reply when using the customer relations email address? if so did it take very long?
Sent an email nearly a week ago and got absolutley nothing back yet........

    thanks

Just scanned back thru a few posts and decided to give the 08453030456 number a try - spoke to a lovely lady who again confirmed that my claim had been processed and validated however they are looking at a 7 week turnaround based on when it was added to their system - she said that i should def have an offer by 18th may - she stated some offers are looged on their system other are sent out in writing and then logged - which seemed a bit odd but none the less she was helpful and thanked me fo rmy patience.
i sent my 2nd letter y'day giving 14 days so i will wait till 18th before cotnacting them again.......

You might be best just checking although ive just been on hold for 25 minutes maybe it might be best to wait a while and ring at a quieter time in the day (avoid dinner times thats even longer!)
