I called natwest this morning to see if any progress had been made as ive not even had a offer yet! Thier 8 weeks is up in 2 weeks. I was told it would not be dealt with in this time and i would have to contact the financial ombudsman. Not heard that one before! I dont know weather to send the court papers i have here off or to wait another 2 weeks and contact the FO..

I dont know what the FO is or anything about it to be honest!

    What route would be quicker?

Whom did you call which number and dept?
  • I have put a claim in with the Natwest to claim my charges back as they are over £3000. Upto now it's gone as far as the courts and the bank has now stated that it wants to defend the claim.

Im a born worrier to start with, does this mean i don't stand a chance ?

    Please someone reply !!

    Hi Katie baby,

I have heard of people going to the financial ombudsman service and having success. If you have heard nothing from Natwest in 8 weeks, and that is the length of time they are given by the FSO, then I think that may be a route to take as they offer a free service and contact the bank for you, so you would not have to pay for court fees.

It is normal for banks to defend, please read other peoples experiences with NatWest on this thread.

I got a letter from natwest this morning, not in response to my letter. Their collections department telling me I'm way over my overdraft limit, seeing as it is they that have caused this situation. Drafting my second letter tomorrow.

Thanks - would really like to know the outcome as my hearing set for 4 July. Even though I know how pig headed these banks are, Im still surprised they are stalling paying out even though you have been awarded the money! Surely you will be able to claim interest on the outstanding amount owed to you - they would most certainly charge you in the same situation!! Keep the thread posted as to the outcome - what a shame couldnt find out where and when bailiffs going and send in the photographers! Did you inform Martin? I would definitely have got in touch with the local paper and let NatWest know you have!!! Good luck JayneG
Nat West - MCOL March - FatWest defended - hearing date 4 July - 2300 claimed and still having charges put onto account!!

HSBC - sent 14 day - still waiting for reply. MCOL by end of week - claiming 795 - eventually paid out £560.

Halifax - sent for statements Feb - cheque cashed - nothing received - reported to FSA - paid up almost amount claimed before official complaint registered with FSA

thank you paw169.. i have done what you suggested...

    hi all,
just wondering could somebody please tell me who or what the F.O is and could i just contact them after 56 days if i havent been settled by the bank rather than go through the court palava???
    many thanks xx
p.s if so how would i contact him or them??? xx
  • Here's a little encouragment for those of you who aren't getting any response from Natwest.

I sent my first letter on about 3/3/07 giving 14 days, got no response, and sent my second (slightly more militant) letter on around the 22/3/07, again giving 14 days. Didn't hear anything up until today, when I was on step 6 of 8 on the MoneyClaim website, and just about to part with £120 of my wages for court fees, when my girlfriend called me to say a letter had arrived offering the full amount! Over £2000.00! All that remains is for me to send the acceptance slip back, and hopefully receive my money in the not too distant future(without any stalling)!

All the fighters keep on fighting! Good luck!

Received a cheque for my full charges plus interest and court fees
Oddly the cheque was dated almost a month before the letter...
