Yay !!! Filed my claim online tonight, and it all went through without any glitches. Must admit, I was a bit nervous when I clicked on the 'submit' button - but I had re-checked it all a bazillion times !!!
Many thanks to Rex Mundi, Edinburghlass, Martin and countless others who have painstakingly posted so much advice on this Board

hi all, i'm yet another one that's heard nothing from Natwest since my first letter reqesting a refund at the beginning of March, for over £3000. I put my MCOL claim in today so just hope its the beginning of the end. Find it frustrating reading through other threads and seeing that some people got their money back from Natwest after first letter, and others have gone all the way through the process. Just hope it doesn't take too much longer, got a baby on the way and would love itto be sorted before it arrives.
:j Good luck with your claim - just filed mine tonight :j It would have been nicer if they'd paid up - or even acknowledged letters - but they've no choice now but to respond to us !!

Thanks Pam for your reply, just checked the delivery date of my letter, have to wait til thursday to get the ball in motion at MCOL. Any help or advice on the MCOL would be most gratefully received. Is it self explanatory? Never had to do something like this for. But over 3000 reasons to go for it, the robbing bar stewards.:rotfl: Finances going the RIGHT way at last!!:T
Thanks to the inspirational :money: :beer:0 -

Hi - I found a lot of useful info in the MCOL thread, and this post tells you how to fill in the claim form. It's all pretty self explanatory once you fill in your claim details - make sure you have everything to hand eg total charges claimed, interest charges, address of the bank, etc. You can save claim details as you go along, so that you can go back and check things/complete it another day etc, before you hit the 'submit' button.
Good luck!

Thought I would share this info for anyone considering starting a claim with NatWest...
Having perused these boards for some time now, and also seeing that I have racked up a fair few more charges than I thought I had on my most recent statements... I finally made the decision to initiate a claim with NatWest. Because I hold several accounts with them and between mortgage, overdraft and professional trainee loan, I owe them a fair bit too, I decided to go with a cordial approach first and called their customer relations number. A lovely girl said that someone would call me back about this, which they did, within half an hour. This girl took some details from me and said that they would send out statements to my local branch, as I requested as I am at Uni away from home. She could not have been more helpful or friendly.
I would reccomend anyone try this as it certainly saves you one letter and £10!
The number I used was 0800 015 4212.
Good luck- and thanks to all the contributers for all the advice which persuaded someone reluctant like me to take the plunge and get on with it!

Just a quick note to all you MCOLers out there - the cort system must be getting quitea backlog of cases now so don't expect a speedy response. I started my claim in the middle of January......0

Ewwww - that's bad news
The outcome might still be quicker than waiting for Natwest's mythical offer letters though (fingers crossed)
Thanks for the warning though!

How far back can you go to reclaim charges from Natwest? In the 1995 they took my £10000 overdraft and I signed something to say they could put it on my mortgage with Nationwide, so if I ever sell my house they are entitled to get there money back. Nearly all this money was from overdraft charges that multiplied in that time. Not trying to get the amount removed from my mortgage (although it would be nice) but if I could still claim I could get a vast amount of the £10000 paid back to me, if I can claim charges over 10 years old.
If I remember correctly although I can't find the letter in early 2000's they sent me a letter saying they were doing this as they had something like 7 years to inform me they were doing this or they would have had to write the debt off iyswim.
So although the debt is over 10 years old the charge to my mortgage account is less than 6 years old. If I can go after them what would be the best procedure to follow.
Thanks for any help
Anyone advise please?0 -
