I think people just panicking a little and want answers quickly. I have queried the Defence and Request for Further information and have put Cobbets on the search engine but havnt had much luck. Perhaps, as people are new to this, it just takes a while to get used to the threads and thats why the same questions seem to be cropping up all the time.
You're right - there is a mass of information on this Board, and things do change. I don't have a huge amount of time to spend on these Boards and can't remember everything I've read, or where I read it, either. Keep asking - I'll bet I'll be asking questions before too long if I have to take my claim to court !!

Ok Ok I take my comment back
Although I will say that being inthe court stage myself - you get a lot fewer answers to your questions when you get to this stage!! I still don't know if what I have done is right0 -
Maybe of interest to some....
Just reading the Consumer Action Group Forum and there is talk of claiming back beyond 6 years:

Ditto Matey, I've asked questions at each stage, I'll be asking a lot more too......unless I get my money of course0 -
I recently reclaimed £1170 from Natwest who then gave me another £1170! They did however take that back.
I rang my branch last week as I had gone OD for the first time in months by £3 and was charged £38 for being OD and another £38 for going over my overdraft limit! I rang my branch who put me through to the charges department and I got talking to a very nice helpful man. He refunded my charges after I told him that they were disproportionate to their costs and they don't even send me a letter to tell me and then after a bit of banter he said that they were all pulling their hair out at NatWest as they have 2 trailers full of post containing claims sitting in the car park at Borehamwood waiting to be processed!!We finally did it! Debt free 28/6/10 :T  :T :beer:0 -
Well I am at the court stage just waiting for a date.
It did really make me smile though to think of 2 trailers of letters reclaiming bank charges, and all those people pulling their hair out:D .
I know it is quite cruel of me, but when I think back to all the times I was really struggling, pulling my hair out and the bank just kept putting on the costs. I have to say that what goes round comes round.;)

Hi all,
This is my first post on here, so apologies if I'm going over old ground...
I've just received six years-worth of bank statements from the NatWest through the post (the envelope they'd squeezed them into had been ripped to shreds in the post and was bound together with rubber bands!) - and I've worked out that they owe me about £650 in unfair charges.
I'm about to write back to claim this money, but I'm a bit worried by a news story on the radio the other day saying that NatWest are now threatening to take people who claim to court.
Have they started doing this yet? Or is it merely another way to discourage people from claiming?
I asked for a breakdown of charges and they sent me a wad of statements - their first attempt to put me off. I presume the unsuitable envelope and ensuing damage to contents was another attempt to discourage me from taking further action. Perhaps the threat of legal action is just another?
Thanks in advance, all.
Cheers,
