I have sent my first letter to natwest in borehamwood by fax and a copy through the post. I rang them after 14days they had no record of this I sent the next letter recorded delievery to manager if she was a manager( don't want to mention the ladys name) as advised by this person over 1 week later they still have no record. I rang today after being on hold for over 30mins I spoke to a man who I can only discribe as dam right rude. Its not here he said what do you want me to do It takes 7 working days to sort the post ( have we gone back in time) you will have to wait. I asked to speak to a manager he said no I will not put you through to one. and then just said I told you how long it takes goodbye ( yes I wanted to smash the phone against the wall) the Natwest are out of control and are treating people so bad. Its off to court for me. I am very scared but there rudeness just makes me madder.
I owe the natwest over £3000 and have a debt collector demanding this back but they owe me over £7000 in charges and interest. every month they are adding more interest onto the ammount I owe. Can I claim this back aswell from when they defaulted my account. Or is that just to cheeky.

Had a letter this morning:
"we refer to your attached correspondance requesting a complete list of transactions and charges applied to your account under the data protection act. In order for us to progress this request please supply us with the following:
Please refer only to the ticked boxes:
(briefly)
a. the fee is £5, please supply a cheque
b. we have a different address on record, please confirm
c. it is not possible to trace the account, please confirm details
d. please provide signature to verify your account
e. we return your cheque as the fee is £5, please amend
f. Account is not in your name, please provide authority...
FIrst off, none of the boxes were ticked, and second off, this letter is regarding the statements that I recieved on 9/3/07 so what is this letter all about?!?
A, supply a cheque with all YOUR bank details on?????
B, now asking for your address (not on your cheques!!)
C, can't trace your account.....why ask for your name & address & not account number????
D, If the account doesn't exist, how can they verify your signature????
ect ect.........hmmmm I smell a rat!
Did they attach the said correspondance???????0 -

If you sent a letter by recorded delivery you should be able to find confirmation on the 'track and trace' section of Royal Mail and get proof the letter was received by the bank. They can't then turn round and say they never received it!
I'm not sure about the position regarding claiming interest, but make sure you claim back every single charge (the ones you're permitted to claim) right up to when you claim through MCOL. I wouldn't bother ringing them again either - it's hard to prove what these bank people actually said. If they are harassing you for money, I'd speak to the CCCS or CAB and get some advice on how to deal with it all.
Good luck

yes, they attached my original first request letter for my statements, not a photocopy because my signature is my ink lol
I will just ignore it because it doesnt really make sense, and I am going to ring customer relations tomorrow too...0 -
I got a copy of my credit file from Experian and it has a default for £3250 to natwest, this is 100% bank charges, At the moment they do not know where I live and I was just about to leave it as that as it gets wiped after 6 years, but If I can reclaim the whole amount, that would be better.
The charges were from when I was 17 and was writing a lot of cheques and due to losing my job they bounced, and escelated from there, as I was 17, I should not have been charged for bounced cheques (Or so I was told)
Does anyone think I have a chance with this one? It is all from no more than 4 years ago but with it being bounced cheques and owing them that much money, I am a bit cautious about it, what do you think my chances are?

You should be able to reclaim as far as I know - If they're penalty charges, they're unlawful, regardless of what they were imposed for! Definitely worth claiming for that sort of money - also make sure they remove the notice from your credit file as they have no right to be giving you a black mark for failing to pay what you don't owe them!
Best of luck!0 -
Cheers andy, I am just writing a letter now, template of course :-D but I dont know the account details and they are not in my credit file. so I have sent a seperate letter with my date of birth and copy of my birth certificate so they dont stall the process.
Also, how do you go about removing other discrepancies from a credit file, I have financial associations with my mum??? I know this is a really busy site and a bril one too! But can anyone answer my question put on yesterday as getting quite worried as I need to reply to Cobbetts in Manchester, solicitors for Nat West, who have sent me a defence and request for further information - loads of paperwork with very legal sounding wording! Has anyone had this and if so how is the best way to reply to their questions re:CPR part 18 etc!!! Dont want to mess up now! Would appreciate ANY help on this. I seem to remember way back seeing something from Edinburgh Glass about writing to the solicitors/court about this being intimidatory - but was only at the beginning of my claim then and didnt take too much notice. Would this still be on a thread somewhere? JGNat West - MCOL March - FatWest defended - hearing date 4 July - 2300 claimed and still having charges put onto account!!
HSBC - sent 14 day - still waiting for reply. MCOL by end of week - claiming 795 - eventually paid out £560.
Halifax - sent for statements Feb - cheque cashed - nothing received - reported to FSA - paid up almost amount claimed before official complaint registered with FSA0
