As Natwest have offered you the full amount of your claim and you have declined this, what is your next step?

I'm a bit worried now after reading your post- I started the MCOL thing in January. About 2 weeks ago I was sent an offer for the full amount (exc interest and costs) dated from the beginning of March but I declined because of the court costs I have had to pay since starting the online claim. Have I done the right thing or should I have accepted their offer?

    Hi,

Does anyone know how long it is taking for Natwest to credit accounts after offer acceptance?

    Many thanks and regards,

    Darby

    Hi Darby,

They told me when I phoned that because of the backlog it is now taking 14 working days. Make sure you send back the acceptance by recorded or special delivery as they are apparently having quite a lot not turn up - mine included - and they will not accept a fax or taking to your local branch.

    Hope this helps

  • Thank you very much for your answer, most enlightening! They acknowledged on the 5th, apparently, so here goes with the fight!

Am I right in thinking the allocation questionnaire costs around £100 or did I make that up?!

    Hi there buddy!
    I don't really do 'verbal' :D
The only good thing about it was that they hopefully don't want to drag things out by going through the MCOL process. But... I don't think the left hand knows what the right is doing at old natwest. Til I get the offer in writing, I'm sticking to the timescales. Every time I think 'well, they're busy, I'll give them a bit more time' I remember the hell they put me through a few yrs ago when they wouldn't budge an inch over the charges. They're only busy because they're refunding money they dishonestly took off us !!

(getting off her soap box now :rotfl: )

It temporarily slipped my mind, in the excitement of getting an offer, the financial mess natwest got me in, struggling to keep my head above water, buying minimal food for the family, getting deeper in debt with my utility bills due to the bank cancelling the direct debits, charges spiraling out of my control, not being able to catch up no matter how hard I tried. I'm gonna have to save up to go through MCOL, in which case giving the bank more time anyway.

One day I might win something on the lottery......only ever won a tenner on that......I never have any luck!.......and then I can sleep a night knowing my debts are paid

Just before Xmas, a few yrs ago, I hadn't a penny I could draw out of the bank as by that time - I've worked out - they had taken around £700 in illegal charges off me. I accept responsibility for having had my head in the sand about debts etc, but the fact remains, that was £700 I'd been deprived of. I had to use the credit card to get cash and food, which of course meant I accrued loads in interest charges. I've kept some money back from my tax refund to pay the cost of having to go through MCOL if it comes to that, but it'd give me great pleasure to get the interest charges back off Natwest as well as the (approx) £1000 bank charges!
Isn't it a lovely sunny day? I've got a delicious smelling casserole bubbling away in the slow cooker (inexpensive cut of meat) and looking forward to seeing my brother tomorrow - he's coming over to sort out my jungle of a garden so I don't have to pay someone to help me out.

I know it's never ending, always money money money, I'm sick of struggling, hopefully things will change for the better soon thanks to Martin!!

Gorgeous day today, I've got dinner on too, boys out playing footy, hubby out helping his dad move house, baby upstairs having his afternoon nap so I can get on with dinner. What part of the country are you at?

I called 0845 3030 456 and spoke to a really lovely lady who informed me everything i could want to know. She was really honest as well and i wasnt fobbed off with the usual rubbish. She even told me to photocopy my offer letter when i finally recieve it as so many are not arriving and if this does happen i can go into my local branch and fax the offer letter to them. She also said recorded delivery is a good idea :-)

I had to call about my account last week as there was a transaction on my statement I didn't recognise (turns it out was a charge for posting something free from the freebies section) and whilst on the phone I asked for an update on my claim.
I was told they had received my request for refund (I know they have that because they signed for them on March 22nd).
I asked when I can expect to see an offer and the chap said it could take 21 days for it to get to me due to the backlog.

Stuff that, my money - my timeframe. Court letter being sent for both accounts on Tuesday. Ha ha!
