I called 0845 3030 456 and spoke to a really lovely lady who informed me everything i could want to know. She was really honest as well and i wasnt fobbed off with the usual rubbish. She even told me to photocopy my offer letter when i finally recieve it as so many are not arriving and if this does happen i can go into my local branch and fax the offer letter to them. She also said recorded delivery is a good idea :-)0

They really are telling all sorts of different things, I was told that a copy would not do and so neither would a fax. I could not take it into my local branch as it had nothing to do with them!
Is anyone else a little worried that so many of these letters are not arriving - they have all account details on them!!!!0 -

I was in a very similar position with natwest, although I have an agreement with a debt management company rather than an iVA,
basically my overdraft was at £290, (£100 limit, which is what i owed - the rest were charges) Natwest had put my current account together with what I owed them on a loan, which meant my account was frozen till the loan is paid off. Basically I applied for £1211 to be paid back, they agreed in principle and the monies would return into my account (which i couldnt draw from), I called and was told the same as you that the monies would return directly into my account, even if i tried to pay the £290 off, the account would still remain frozen till loan is cleared, so asking as many people I could, I would simply get the same answer from anyone, that i should accept thier offer and be consoled by the fact that loan would be cleared earlier. I wrote back saying I would be happy to accept offer under the condition that they pay me by cheque, or that they they place £290 into account and send cheque for remainder thus closing account, they declined this and advised I had 10 days to accept or offer would be withdrawn.
Very reluctantly I faxed back the form they sent accepting offer, Also popping the original copy in the post, as feared they would say they would need this, so to my surprise a couple of days later, recieved a cheque in post for full amount:T . Now judging by date of cheque looks like they acted upon my fax, even though I was told they would not act upon this, so Best advise I can give you, Is to try sending polite letter first accepting offer conditionally, (payment by cheque only) if they decline this sign it anyway and see what happens. Really dont think there is anyother way round it hun,
Best of luck anyway

thanks, i will certainly give that a go.0 -
Bank: NatWest
Amount Reclaimed: £1239 plus £203.86 interest
Amount they paid: Offered to pay £1239
The story: Received offer 20days after sending my 1st letter!!!!!!
I declined this offer due to the fact it will only pay into my account which is currently held since 2005 with their Credit management team. I came to this decision as they have fleeced me heavily since then anyway. (Saying they'd stop interest accruing, but it's been still added at £30 per month. Plus having my monthly payments go into the loan account they closed at same time instead of reducing above interest payments to old current account.) All this happened because of 2months of income loss.
All the best to everyone else and I will get my cheque!++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

just found out that my first leter requesting the money has gone from my local branch to customer relations on the 28th March, it has been recieved by customer relations, but they are trying to get through a back log so havent got to mine yet.
As for my second letter, I guess the branch have still got that one?!?
So I have been advised to ring customer relations back in 2 weeks when hopefully they have reached my letter and actioned it...
What do you guys think, going well?0 -
hi gastfo
in also pursuing nat west have recieved statements from them now need to go through them all to realise exactly how much ive been overcharged any tips? feel a bit strange as ive been with them for over 20 years!!!also have 3 other acc with them!
Go for it Julie, now is the best time.
I requested my statements six months ago and after sending my first letter to the CEO (without a copy of charges) was declined. Now I was looking to re-mortgage, so stayed stumm. Last month I saw the online calculator on the moneysavingexpert website and restarted. Sent my letter and a copied printout of my charges, made 10 just in case, to

This letter was straight from the template dated 13th March 07
I sent letter no. 2 on the 4th of April but had a reply when I got home same day offering full amount of charges without interest. Their terms though were to deposit in my account over which I have no control "Credit Management" so I called them. They wouldn't negotiate, said no to a cheque and just blanked me so I declined in writing. Next step.
If I were you, I would consider opening another current account with another bank just in case they try to push you.
Good luck Julie.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hi,
On the letter I got today from Natwest, they said that they thought the charges were fair etc, and that any future charges will be justified, and not be able to claim for them. They said that should I not agree with the charges then they may need to consider changing my account to a more basic one that does not offer a credit facility therfore no charges will be incurred.
Hope this helps0 -
As Natwest have offered you the full amount of your claim and you have declined this, what is your next step?0
