I am stressed out big time, I am in the process of claiming back charges from Natwest at the moment and every step is painstaking and Natwest are making it as hard as possible!
I had to ask for my statements 3 times! 1st time they said they never recieved it (i sent it recorded delivery) 2nd time they just sent me 1 month in October 2002 and now finally after the 3rd time of asking a month later they sent me the full 6 years.
I have calculated my charges over the years and it equals little over £2000.00 pounds!
will they dig there heels in especially because its alot of money? I think they might have me down as a problem customer as i am always phoning them compaining about there charges to no prevail.
I have sent the letter template off requesting these charges back recorded delivery over a week and a half ago (24th march) and i have not heard a peep!
In the eventually i might have to take them to court what do i do and what if they dont even answer this previous letter i sent them requesting my charges back?! I am really stressed out about this and could do with some help or advice from anyone who has been succesful with Natwest to ease my mind!
My fiancee says it is unlikely i will recieve the money back and i dont want to admit it but i think it might too, though i am going to fight it all the way and get my justice though it is hard....
PLease help or advise em what to do, everyones support would be grateful in this stressful time
I know it sounds a daunting task, reclaiming these charges, but don't be intimidated by it all. Thousands upon thousands of people are reclaiming these charges and are succeeding - I've been told this morning they're making me an offer (of course, it that letter doesn't appear, then I'll commence with MCOL and claim back the interest as well)
The lady I spoke to in Customer Relations this morning was extremely nice - she said they are deluged with claims and have taken on extra staff to cope with it all. She gave me a reference number for my claim which is logged on their system, and said I could ring any time to check where things are up to.
Try not to get stressed - they WILL refund your charges!

I'm afraid don't be surprised if you don't get any answers when you phone the left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hand is doing!!
When I called the so called 'Customer Relations' I found out this morning that I was only talking to the support team and that they would email Customer Relations for me to find out if they have actually received my acceptance letter.
Sorry to not be too positive but I'm afraid they have given no reason to be at the moment.0 -

I'll believe it when my money's returned to my bank account :rotfl:
But - I was speaking to the Customer Relations dept, and I've now got my case reference number to quote in future. She could confirm that my letters had been received also - it was marked up in my claim notes.
It's probably the luck of the draw who we get to speak to.

I have phoned the number at the top of my offer letter a number of times and have spoken to some very pleasant people - and I have a ref no: - but they still cannot tell me if they have received my acceptance letter. According to the letter it came from the Customer Relations team.0

I sent my LBA last week to the customer relations dept. I Have just reread it while i phoned them up to check if it had been received and noticed i had put the wrong date on it. I put the 8jun 06 instead of 29 mar 07 (i aactually used another letter and forgot to change it, i didn't actually think it was the 8 jun 06 last week!).
Just wondering if anyone knows how this will affect the 14 days before submitting my claim? i presume its 14 days after they have received the letter?
I posted it last thursday recorded delivery and as usual royal mail have failed to record it. It says it has made it to the delivery office and is out for delivery. It has been saying that since friday. I phoned up Natwest and the lady recons that it can take 3 weeks from receiving a letter to it being put on the system, so they can't tell me if it has been received. What a joke!0 -
Hay there...
Wondering if anyone can help me....I'm trying to claim bank charges on behalf of my partner - We am currently proceeding with Barclays (who surprisingly enough sent back his cheque and said they would provide the statements for free! I'm still waiting for the sting in the tail on that one!
However, unfortuantely after NatWest stiffed him for £1000s and we managed to pay them off, he threw all letters etc away!
Does anyone have any ideas how we could go about getting the account details so I can start claiming all our money back from them too?
Also can I just check when the letters say "40" or "7" days does this refer to just working days, just so I can be sure my chase dates are correct?
Any advise would be really appreciated as I'd love to see those S**T's pay!
Many thanks....0 -

I'd stick to the timescales, and start MCOL if you've not had any response to your letter. If Natwest are behind with their admin, thats their problem :rotfl: Funny isn't it, how quick they are to deduct charges from our accounts if we're late paying in money, etc and go over our OD limits.
Not much chance of them showing up in Court to defend a claim if they take 3 weeks to update their system to say they received your letter:rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi all
Finally I'm getting around to doing this after muchos nagging from all and sundry! I went to Natwest recently with a letter containing a tenner, requesting my charges/statements.
I've just recieved my statements this morning only to find that they only go back to Oct 2002 (which even by my rubbish maths isn't the full last 6 years). Plus, when I read them, I'm a little confused by the terminology on there in order to work out what's a charge and what isn't.
I've already sussed that the "referral" charges count, but when I look through them, I have regular "charges" that are anywhere between £6 and £38. It's a (dis)Advantage Gold account, and I know that there is a monthly account charge, and that it has changed over the last couple of years, but I don't know what it started at and changed to! Does anyone have this info, i.e. what the old charge was, what the new charge is, and when it changed? I have a feeling that if I ring the bank, I'll be given the runaround, and told to wait for something in the post that will never turn up (AGAIN)...
Once I've sussed what are actual charges and what aren't, I can get my letter off, hopefully netting me a refund of just under £2k!
Thanks to anyone who can help...
