I sent my second letter on friday recorded delivery. The 14 days was up on thursday and nothing. I called and they said it will be dealt with by second week in May. I said i was not happy with this and would be pursueing my claim, they informed me that if i chose to take it to court then it would take longer and they would no longer be able to help me and i would have to deal with things via court. Guess i will be seeing them in court then!!0

Natwest has today sent me a letter offering me all my bank charges back as a gesture of good will. In the letter it says if i except the full amount they will credit it to my account. However i am in a IVA and the account in question only allows money to go in. I rang natwest to ask for a cheque and explained that the account was frozen. But they didnt really care about that all they said was even if it went to court
1, they have offered to pay the full amount
2, i still owe them money
Any one got any ideas of how to get around this?0 -

Basically they do have right to set off any refund of charges against this debt but according to the article linked below certain conditions would have to apply.

I was sent this on email. I think in the current climate we should all adopt this procedure. P*** the banks off even more!!!
SENIOR MOMENT -
A 98 year old woman wrote this to her bank. The bank manager thought it
amusing enough to have it published in the Times.
Dear Sir,
I am writing to thank you for bouncing my cheque with which I endeavoured to
pay my plumber last month.........................
Sorry to disappoint but the letter is made up. I've seen similar ones before
Hey ho.......it should be sent to NatWest, might show they have a sense of humour if they laugh, which isn't often :rotfl:0 -

I've banked with Natwest for 10 years, 3 of those as a single mum and boy have I paid for it. I keep my statements so I went through them all today and added up the charges and interest. Nearly fell off my chair as I realized they were equivalent to two months salary. So I found sense, read the site and the forum and wrote the letter. It's now sitting here with a schedule of charges and interest ready to go in the post tomorrow - recorded delivery. This is my first stage of getting to grips with my money and the chat forum has been really helpful as it is giving me the courage to go for it. So what if going overdrawn is my fault they have never helped me with these unfair charges and in fact offer to lend me money that i would not be able to pay back. Fingers crossed.0

Hiya,
Just joined and saying hi to everybody.
I sent my first letter off to Nat West and received my statements back within 2weeks and with no letter or anything.
Any added up all my charges and came up to £4800
So I took off £800 for Advantage Gold fees and replied back saying can I have MY £4000 back please and this letter was signed for on the 21st of March.
I phoned them up on the 29th March and to ask how my claim was going. The chap on the end of the phone told me that a confirmation letter would be sent to me within the next 2-3 days, just to confirm that they have received the letter, which I know they have because he had just told me so. He then said in another 3-4 weeks they would send me a letter with an offer.
I didn’t saying anything and thought that it was best to leave it till the 14 days had passed before I call them again.
So I sort of know where I am with the claim but need a holding hand over the next stage.
When we say reply within 14 days, is this 14 working days? or 14 days.
If its 14 days then im going to phone them tomorrow and see if they have come up with an offer (which I doubt).
If I call tomorrow should I tell them that if I don’t receive an offer in the next 24 hours then ill file a claim in court and would this then push them into getting an offer in the post?
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Big0
