Hi, I made my cheque payable to NatWest for £10, got my statements a while ago but they only cashed the cheque yesterday, so, if you are low on funds in your account, make sure you always keep £10 in credit incase they debit your account a long time after & you incur further charges.

Hope this helps & the best of luck to you with your claim

I have been told by NATWEST that they do not charge for issuing the statements. They have my cheque but it has not been cashed and I received my statements very quickly. So much for consistency!!

Hi. I sent my claim to Natwest on the 24th March. Looking at my account today I have been charged £28 for something relating to March 2nd. I have no idea what this charge is for. Can I add this to my claim in the next letter?

    Thank you for your help

Is there a code/letters or whatever, next to the £28 charge?

I've just asked your question on another thread & this was the response:

"Yes. The claim is ongoing until you file at court and subject to any changes you wish to make as to the amount. Its helpful in that you can also correct any mistakes as you go along. Once the claim has been filed i think that is the point where you stop adding although I have read that if you make an error at court stage there is a way to correct it. I dont know anything about that in detail though sorry. I also believe that if any charges are added whilst going through the court process then you can always negotiate with the bank for them if they offer a settlement before judgement.

If judgement is entered by default and you dont have the chance to add such charges or negotiate them there is nothing to stop you making a further claim for that time period, starting the process again."

Do make sure its an actual charge before you add it to your claim though! I've seen me sometimes wondering what on earth something is on my account online and then remember as soon as I see it on my paper statement.

Many thanks for that and to Pam before. Yes there is a code but seeing as I have the bit between my teeth I have just thrown the ball back in Natwests court. There is an issue regarding whether we have been charged for Advantage when we never really had that type of account. So some of earlier charges have been made for this which I did not include in my original claim. So I have now sent copy statements with these charges asking what they mean! Let them do some more work! :D I have also used an earlier post about tracking the Royal Mail post and scanned this into my ever increasing Natwest folder!!! Not only has this site helped me with my claim I have found functions on my printer and organised my computer files more efficiently! :rotfl:
I would never have pursued this without the help of this site. Many thanks to all!

Just phoned Natwest and have been advised the claim has been received and that I should expect a response at the end of April. I said that wasn't within the 14 day deadline and she said (in a very weary voice) they have 6 weeks to respond according to the Financial Ombudsman. Fingers itching to send next letter off in a week! I asked if she was inundated with calls and she said 'Just a bit'! Sorry for her but LOL!

Talking of itchy fingers, my 14 day deadline was up on Friday, I waited for the postman, got nothing from NatWest so I drafted my 2nd letter, I couldn't wait till Monday.....I can't see NatWest "hand delivering" their response on Friday for some reason ;). Sent it registered post before the post office closed the same day :j

As I told Pam earlier, I can't wait to see they have recieved it on the Royal Mail track n trace :D

Hello, I'm organising a claim for a friend (who is with NatWest), i've gone through his statements, and there are lots of charges, but they don't say what the charges are for, and as such, I'm not entirely sure which I can claim.

For example I have spotted the following types of charges:

    UNPAID ITEM(S)
    REFERRAL CHARGE
    CARD MISUSE

But the vast majority just have the date and then the account number with no further information.

Can all of these be claimed? I'm not sure which are 'penalty charges' and which are just normal account charges

    Thanks
