That's what I did too - when I went to the 'track and trace' on the Royal Mail website, it even had a scanned picture of who signed for the letter. So, no chance of them saying they didn't get it :rotfl:
It's almost 14 days since they signed for my letter requesting a refund of my bank charges, so I've got the next one ready to send, threatening court action. Just anxious they don't call my bluff and say they'll see me in court - common sense says they won't appear in court to defend their charges, but I'm still nervous.

A quick update and request for more advice (sorry)
I phoned the Customer services again today. After some delay the guy asked me how much I had requested, I told him £520 plus interest. He then said a letter would be sent out within the next 2 weeks offering me the full £520.
This would be a great outcome but I am still a little sceptical. Why would he have to ask me how much I had requested to tell me how much they had offered, surely it would be on screen?
Anyway, my main question is, should I wait and give them time to send the offer letter? Or should I send the letter threatening court?
Thanks to those who have advised so far
Barry
I'd follow the timescale of letters, as set out.
As for asking you how much you'd claimed.... maybe it was just another form of verifying who you were (although they do go through security checks, so it is a bit puzzling)

Don't be nervous. It's the banks who are on the back foot, not the customers. If it was a risk then you wouldn't have top financial advisors going on BBC NEWS24 and GMTV etc telling everyone to do it. Plus it's only a small claims court situation, not a big court with high powered lawyers. I'm actually getting more excited about the whole "Taking on the Bank" game the more I read!0 -
Has anyone recently heard from REX MUNDI or KEN W0

frugalpam I'm at exactly the same stage as you. 14 days were up on 27/3 I've not heard a thing.
All they did was cash the £10 cheque yesterday, which I'd sent for my statements over 6 weeks ago.
I'm requesting £3003 + £775 interest.
I did notice that I'd made the odd mistake, where I had deducted £10 instead of £9 a couple of months out for the monthly Adv Gold fee from the unauth. overdraft fee. I also claimed for Jan & Feb 2001 which totals £100. I'm willing to deduct those, but am just waiting for them to investigate it. Plus I hadn't listed what the charges were for - just date, charge value, interest, total...
I'm really reluctant to ring them as I have never found them to be helpful and I'm scared I'll let them talk me round to accepting their T&Cs.
I am going to send the next letter in as sticking to the timescales seems to be what is advised on here. However, I'm just not sure whether to make the nec ammendments in my next letter, or let them investigate n adjust in their offer.
I'm scared they'll call my bluff n see me in court - I so hope it doesn't get that far:eek:
If anyone could advise me what to do I'd really appreciate it.

I know exactly how you feel, I rang last week to see how my claim was getting on. After reading on here that someone had rang about their claim I thought "Right....thats it....I'm gonna ring them", I told my hubby & he said "what's wrong, you look like you're shaking", I was!! I was really nervous, didn't want a snotty advisor on the other end giving me legal jargon ect ect. Anyway, after 2 mugs of tea, not being able to sit still & hubby telling me to go for it (easy for him to say, he hates talking on the phone!) I rang the number, and hey presto......I got all tongue tied, my words came out wrong & I had to repeat myselfeventually they got the jist of what I was saying & they shocked me........they were REALLY nice & polite!. However, they hadn't received my letter asking for charges & I was asked (not told) to ring back this week, I'm calling them tomorrow as the 14 day's are up on Friday which is when I'm sending my 2nd letter. Hope they are as nice to me on my 2nd phone call
I just know I'll have more tea & I'll be pacing the floor before the call but I'm gonna go for it, it's my money after all, so you go for it if you want, give them a call but if you really really can't then just communicate by letter. Good luck in whatever you decide0 -
I'm going to send the next letter I think. Ringing to discuss it seems too big a step for me. I see from the track n trace that they had received my letter requesting charges on the 13th.... i dunno whether to send in LBA n make the ammendments though, or just carry on with initial amount requested n let the bank point it out to me. That's if they ever reply!0

I know they definitely got mine as I hand delivered to my branch but the "actual" office that deals with the claims hasn't yet recieved it. Also, on reflection, my hubby is saying not to put myself in the same state as I was in last week so i'm not going to ring them, I'm just doing it by letters......pheeewwww! If that means going to the court stages then so be it....even sending in the bailiffs seems quite appealing because the bank charges put me through some very stressful times over the years, but hopefully it won't get that far.
Like you I know I've made some mistakes with the Advantage Gold charges but I'll see if I get an offer, surely NatWest know "exactly" how much the charges total. What's done is done now in my letter to them, I'll just wait & see what happens.
Just remember to keep copies of anything you send your bank & dates & times & names of people you talk to on the phone. Talking of dates, make sure it's correct....I put 2006 on mine! :rotfl:0 -
I feel much the same - prefer to stick to communication by letter, following the timescale set out. I sent mine to my local branch, so if there's a delay in them sending it to whoever deals with these claims (Boreham Wood?) then that's their problem, not mine. They've got til Friday to reply to my letter requesting a refund of charges - if I still haven't had a reply by Saturday, then my letter threatening court action gets posted Monday morning (again by recorded delivery). Seeing as I've got a complaint going through already about upgrading my account without my permission, earning them £12 a month, then my name should ring a bell with them :rotfl:
I suppose the banks are swamped with such letters and struggling to keep up with it all - but again, that's their problem, not mine!!
