WOW did you see Whistleblower tonight on BBC 1 a bank manager said that charges only cost them 1.50 to 2.00 and laughed at the fact they were charging 30 - 35

Hope he gets the sack :T :T :T

Hi, i was wondering if anyone can help?

    What I require
I calculate that you have taken £XXXXX plus £XXX which you have charged me in overdraft interest for the sum which you have taken. Total £XXXXX .
I enclose a schedule of the charges which I am claiming with this letter

The second lot of XXX is the interest but it says you dont include that in your schedule of charges which i'm sending with the prelim letter. Do i exclude that bit from the letter or put it in jusst the letter bit. Also do i add on the £10 i sent for the statements?

    thanks
    will

I sent the following & was told it was ok as it was adapted to my particular circumstances.....it may help you. Good luck!

    "Dear Sir or Madam

    Ac No ********

I am writing to request that you repay all the default charges that have been applied to my account. I do not believe these charges reflect the true cost to NatWest.

The charges total £4***.00, plus as I believe I have been unlawfully deprived of the money I have calculated £8**.00 interest at the statutory rate, the amount the court will award.

I therefore ask that you repay me the full amount for charges of £4***.00 by way of cheque. I have attached a full schedule of the charges and interest with this document.

I look forward for a full response to this letter within 14 days."

Although I sent the letter with interest, I merely asked for a refund of charges, also payment via cheque. I sent the list WITH interest too. Apparently you can't claim the £10 for statements.

Has anybody ever actually managed to get a default removed??

That would open up a whole new can of worms for me!!

If the CAG way doesn't work as suggested, try and get em on a technicality!! Check out the following website, it's quite interesting ;)
