About 4 years ago i was a Natwest customer, was working full time, so was offered an overdraft of 100 pounds. this was fine for a while til i went over once, the bank then offered to extend my overdraft to 200, again thankful at first then realising i was on an uphill struggle to get myself back in the red, i gave in to the offer of another 50 pounds in the overdraft! i was trying my best to keep payments regular but failing then the unthinkable happened, i lost my job, and with my mum in toe i went into the bank to explain my situation and that i would not be making the same payments. They were very understanding and i started paying what i could. For about six months all was ok then had some personal troubles, and when i next went in the bank a person in charge at the time, obviously not aware of my situation, offered to up the overdraft again this time i said no. anyway within the last year they have been sending letter after letter asking for full payment, which now stands at 250, due to 100 being paid gradually over this last year, i had heard of this process to reclaim and wondered whether i should look into it further? if anybody can help please get in contact, thank u.0

I hand delivered mine to my local branch, I've been told from "Twinkly" on here that this was fine as it will get to the correct department.0 -
Hi
I have sent letter requesting charges back from Nat west credit card ( used the one on the consumer action group which asks that the default be taken off as well)
Got a letter today saying Basically it is in the terms and conditions I signed up to, they strongly disagree with the O.F.T' s position and I can go to the financial ombudsman if I like ( they enclosed leaflets for ombudsman and terms and conditions).
Has anyone else had this? what did you do? shall I just go to M.C.O.L now or Ombudsman?
Thanks you lot ( in advance for all the help you will give;) )

Sounds like one of the standard "trying to put you off letters".
Just carry on to the next step now0 -

It's definitely stalling tactics - just follow through the procedure as set out. I'm fully expecting to get something similar in response to my first letter sent requesting refund of charges!

People are getting their charges back - tons of them - and as far as I'm aware, not one bank has shown up in court. They wouldn't dare, since they'd have to justify why they charge such exorbitant penalties, and they wouldn't be able to explain why, for example, it costs around £30 to bounce a cheque.
Welcome to this forum - you will get a TON of support every step of the way, so keep posting !

Go on the consumer action group webste, their template letter also covers the default notice being removed, so when you do find out what your charges were, it asks for them back and the default to be removed.
I used this as I need to get a bigger house soon so want to improve my credit rating.

Has anybody ever actually managed to get a default removed??
That would open up a whole new can of worms for me!!0 -
Where;s the newly famous 'Natweststaffmember'?? I spotted you on Whistlblower tonight! lol:D0
