Sent request for 6 years of charges to Natwest around 4 weeks ago. Me and my friend sent the request at the same time, to the same place, and he recieved his last week. I waited for mine to arrive, and lo-and-behold yesterday I recieve an envolope with the same handwriting on the address as my friend who recieved his last week.

I, however, found myself far from happy when I noticed how thin the package was, and I opened it to find only 3 months from statements, from June-August 2002.

Is this common? Should I just sit and wait and hope that for some reason they are posting them a bit at a time?

I'm a bit stuck because I'm not sure if this is common practise, and I'm not sure who at Natwest I need to speak to to complain - the customer support I have found to be less than helpfull on previous occasions.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Its common for the computer to spit them out in batches and this is only one batch so far. You will have to give them the full 40 days to get the rest to you as they are entitled to this time under the act.

    Good luck :)

    Hi,

    Result

I love Natwest (well don't hate them as much). I was originally claiming for £1340.47, I have had a letter saying they will pay me £1259.00. But they are not admitting liability and this is just a gesture of good will.

From asking for my statements to the settlement figure took about 6 weeks.

But they have put some terms and conditions on me accepting the settlement, which are:
"Any charges that properly accrue in the future will be applied to your bank account in line with their published tariff and in accordance with your agreement with the bank. Should you be unwilling to accept these charges, then we may consider if we are prepared to continue to provide you with your exising banking facilities. Instead we may offer you a simple account that does not offer borrowing facilities or other services that can result in charges."

I would like to take up this offer, but will I still be able to claim back any charges I might get in the future. I am not planning on getting any more charges but you never know.

Anybody tempted to do this, get it done its well worth it and thank you to Martin for this wonderful site.

    Regards Stax

This may be somewhere else. If so, i apologise.

I sent my cheque and letter off to Nat West on Jan 7th asking for a breakdown of all my charges. They sent me a letter straight away saying 'No Problem!"they're on there way.
Haven't heard a dicky bird since. And my cheque has been cashed. Is this normal delaying stuff or should i be pushing.

    thanks

  • Well here we go:

Received the full batch of statements for both my accounts yesterday morning - spent the evening going through them and found they had charged just less than £1,000 over both accounts.

Will be sending off my requests recorded delivery tomorrow - so, fingers crossed, should get an offer quite soon :)

The number I have been ringing is 08000 154212 then press 1. You will wait for ages but this seems to be the best number. The other number is 0845 3030 456. It really will depend on your "luck" as to who answers. Some are ok but I have been unlucky enough to speak to an absolute so and so who, if you say you will take to court if no communication from them, will say "be my guest"!!! Some people seem to have got an offer over the phone. I unfortunately got an unacceptable offer so I have now issued in the small claims - good luck JG
Nat West - MCOL March - FatWest defended - hearing date 4 July - 2300 claimed and still having charges put onto account!!

HSBC - sent 14 day - still waiting for reply. MCOL by end of week - claiming 795 - eventually paid out £560.

Halifax - sent for statements Feb - cheque cashed - nothing received - reported to FSA - paid up almost amount claimed before official complaint registered with FSA

Hi Borehamwood phone no: 0800 015 4212, when you are asked to select press 1 otherwise you just get put through to the call centre. Good luck, my husband and I phoned on Monday to be told that we will be getting an offer letter through by the end of the month, I think it may be a delaying tactic so have started my claim through MCOL. Hope you get better news
