    Thanks Sam!

However, reading some recent posts this past day or so about the hassle Natwest are giving people trying to reclaim charges if it becomes a court issue, I'm honestly wondering whether to bother :(

I had no trouble claiming from Natwest, they did take there time but i got all my charges back...:T
  • I also got all my charges back fom NatWest - had to go through the beginnings of a court process with them, they even employed a soliciter which un-nerved me, but they then offered all the charges back excluding court fees and interest, so I accepted. They also did not close my account. :T Ihave had one month of £28 charges since then for last month, but hopefully that will be it forever and ever.....

If you stick it out you will eventually get your money back.

Yes you may have to put a little work in but is it not worth it if you are getting money back you thought was gone forever? ...;)

Just thought I'd let you all know: I sent the first letter just over 2 weeks ago asking for my charges back. I hadn't heard anything so I phoned them just now on 08000154212 and asked if there was any news. I was told that my request had been 'accepted' and that I will be receiving an offer letter within a week.
This was for over £2000 and for a closed account.

Anyway, for those of you still waiting I recommend phoning them.

I've been doing some major reading up on this thread re CPR Part 18 and also the Consumer Action Group website and copied the following from CAG - Martin3030 dated 4th October 2006

I hope I don't get into for copying and pasting the information.

At the defence stage it appears that the NatWest solicitors are asking claimants to complete a Cpr part 18.
They claim they have insufficient POC and request the claimant to send this to them. There is no requirement to do this and the letter below can be sent in response.
    Dear Sir or Madam:
    Claim No:

I Acknowledge the receipt of the defence posted on behalf of National Westminster Bank plc.
I am not prepared at this stage to answer the CPR Part 18 Request. I anticipate that the claim will be allocated to the small claims track and would not then expect to have to deal with a Part 18 request since these are specifically excluded under Part 27 unless the court specifically orders me to do so of its own initiative
Furthermore I consider that the CPR part 18 request is intimidatory and I intend to bring the intimidation to the notice of the court. However, for clarity, I confirm the charges I am claiming were applied to the following account:
    Account Name:
    Account number:
    Sort Code:

Please also find enclosed a breakdown of all charges I am claiming.
    Yours Faithfully
