they did this with me as well, did you use there unauthorised overdraft rate? Up to you really, you could take the money now and be done with it, or have it drag out for possibly months with no guarantee of actually getting this extra interest, if you carry on though, you would definately get the statutory 8%

You will only get the 8% interest if it gets to the court stage so you should take their offer.

    Hi folks

Just wondering what the score is with this as I have a 3k overdraft with natwest and if I were to get bank charges back, it would help wipe it out!

Has anyone any experience of this?

    Thank you

Yep. Both my NatWest accounts were well into there overdrafts when I claimed and got all charges back on both accounts.
  • Hi everyone - I have no great love for my bank (Natwest) and would like nothing more than getting all the charges back I paid when I was struggling financially (suffice to say they didn't help me, since my earnings have gone up I've suddenly got a private banker!).

In a few of the cases I complained about the charges and managed to get a refund. My instinct is to pool all charges (without netting off the refunded ones) as part of my initial claim.

Has anyone had similar experiences? Any help much appreciated!! Thanks.
  • Oh my god

My mum claimed her charges back from her bank and won and urged me to do it also.
I had such a tough time at the end of last year due to natwest, i was close to having a complete breakdown.
My husband and myself got our finances in order and still natwest just kept adding charge after charge after charge.
We reduced our overdraft by £150 every month until we were only being taken over our overdraft each month by the charges they applied and it has stayed that way ever since.
Finally i'd had enough and decided to write the letter requesting my statements, they accepted my cheque which i sent with plenty of cash in the account , the bank waited until there was no money in and paid the cheque and then they charged me for card misuse.
I recieved my statements with no letter or anything in a damaged envelope, i spent a long time going through the statements and was horrified to discover they had taken over £4500. That was enough for me

I sent the second letter and i heard nothing from them so i phoned them, they said 3 weeks ago that i would recieve a reply by today and that it wouldn't be far off the amount i requested.

I've waited patiently for the last 3 weeks even watching the robbing monkeys add another £200 of charges to my account this month.

I recieved my letter this morning and they have made me an offer of £4,596
which is just £50 under what i was asking

i have quite happily accepted the amount and hopefully i'll have the money in my account within the next 7 days

I've heard a lot of horror stories for natwest and was dreading having to go to court but i was lucky.

Don't give up hope !! good luck to all of you
