Ok folks - am a newbie and just before I present my worry, I wish to thank everybody here for the wonderful support and info. - this is invaluable and precious hence a BIG thank you once again.
my case
After weeks of deliberating and research, I gathered enough courage to forward a request for all charges levied on my a/c: that was 23/02/07: On the 28/02/07, I phoned Natwest Customer Service (08457114477) to ask about my letter.
To cut the long story short, was asked what the letter was for, I explained 'just wanted a history of all charges levied on my a/c. Lady promised to send me statements going back 6 yrs - which she said would arrive in 2 batches. Now this is what i find interesting ..........
At no point during the conversation did I mention anything to do with requesting the charges back, ie be paid back all the charges - what she said next puzzled me - she gave me a reference number, told me that once i get the statements, to highlight all the charges then send them with a letter to NATWEST CUSTOMER RELATIONS UNIT, Borehamhood. My questions are
1. Is it normal practice for Natwest to give a ref. number and advice to post a letter with the highlighted charges
2. What letter should I right to them once I get the statements? Should I use the template letter number two giving them 14 days etc
3. Has anyone been given a reference number by Natwest and told to include it in the mail requesting/highlighting the charges
Many thanks to you guys0 -
Hi everyone,
This is my first post so please bear with me lol!
I have been a customer with the Natwest for about 14 years and took them to moneyclaim to get my bank charges back last year.
Once I had all my charges I wrote to the bank asking them to refund just the charges and about 6 weeks later I got a reply basically telling me to pee off! Even though it says in their complaints procedure they will either acknwledge or aim to resolve your complaint within 14 days!
Next step I took them to court and received a letter after about a week saying that they were going to enter a defence, at this point I wrote my money off as I had no idea what to do! However, the 28 days passed and they never did! Seems to me they just wanted to use delay tactics for me to get my money back, and maybe a bit of scare mongering in hopes I would withdraw my claim. Hopefully they will do the same to you truely-deeply.
I entered a judgement after 28 days, but in the end I had to send the baliffs in to get my money back. About three months after I first entered the claim and after a lot of chasing I finally got my cheque for the full amount including court cost and interests on the original charges.
After I had sent in the baliffs I received a letter from Natwests solicitors asking me to sign a letter saying I had received a cheque from them, for the amount minus the fee to send in the baliffs, even though I hadn;t received anything. I spoke to the solicitor who got me a new cheque issued including the baliff fee which I finally received a couple of weeks ago.
I guess the moral of my story is that you need to keep chasing and be persistant (even to the point of pestering the baliff office!) and in the end you should get your money.
Seems to me that Natwest don't really rung that tighter ship, which is why there is such a struggle to get your money back.
Also this nameistaken it has been found that the amounts banks are chargins is illegal, so I would not settle for anything less than the full amount plus interest. Claim sooner rather than latter so you will get your money sooner loL!0 -
deedee2665 wrote:Hiya can anyone help me please ? we sent our first letter to claim our charges back from natwest on the 6 feb and last week we had a phone call saying there was an offer in the post (still not got it) , and found out that the offer is for the amount we claimed for . But i havent received the letter yet and found out today that the bank have charged us interest on our overdrawn account again today , surely if they had sent me the letter when they said they had they would not have charged us the interest again because if the money was in our bank before today we would be in credit quite a bit of money . Is there anything i can do about this as i feel they are stealing from us again .
Thanks
deedee
I had the same thing. You need to stick to your timescales and now send them the other letter giving them 7 days. All of a sudden you will receive that offer letter.
If you look at my signature, you will see when they dated my offer letter, when they posted it and when i received it. I personally think that they wait to see what happens next, once you have put court claim in they send offer letter.
Send 2nd letter as said, then when 7 days are up give them a ring, if you get no joy or an unsatisfactory answer, go through the courts. You will get the court fee back.
Good luck:rotfl:"Penny Pinching Winch"

What do i do now ???
Stick to your timescales. When the 1st letter 14 days are up, send 2nd letter giving them a further 7 days. if you get no joy, ring on the 7th day and if you get unsatisfactory answer, submit court claim. You will get your offer letter, and i bet it is after your 2nd letter or after court claim. Like mine.:rotfl:"Penny Pinching Winch"

I was really angry after getting the letter about my claim being transferred toe customer relations unit phoned and asked what was going on... the operator was really nice, she said she make sure i got a call back within 24 hours, unfortunatly i wasnt in when she called (had to pick kids up from school) when i got back home there was a message..saying.. there was a offer let the post, should be with me shortly, all have to do is sign the agreement if i accept the amount they are offereing and return the mail :T
Fingers crossed :rotfl:0 -
HI
I have had an offer but without paying the interest?
Probably will settle as the claim was for 2100 which is a nice sum to have, I guess the interest is just being greedy?
Anyone else challenged the interest and got a a result.
Also not heard from Blackhorse, Halifax, Cap One, Ikea or GE Money just on statements! Anyone got any numbers I can take to call and chase?
Many thanks
