Iam claiming with my account halifax, which is just over £1000, but informed my father about it and he is at the stage of waiting for a reply from his 2nd letter at Natwest. He is claiming £2250 from the past 6 years of charges.

Lets see how it goes, hopefully we'll get a result in the next 10days or so.......

    ;)
Halifax Result! Amount Recieved £1152.00 Inc Interest & Court Fee

Capital One MCOL Issued - Awaiting Defence to be filed.

Barclaycard Reported to the information commisioner for a breach of the data protection act 1998 :)
  • Natwest made an offer, got the letter this morning....it's about £1,000 less than I am asking for after court fees, interest etc.

Can I phone up and barter with them to get the amount slightly higher?

I'm posting this as a new thread to give encouragement to others who are going through the process of reclaiming bank charges.

I logged on earlier this week with last minute nerves as our court hearing with NatWest was being held this Thusday (tomorrow). I received replies offering support and suggestions that we would be contacted at the very last minute with an offer - Sure enough my husband has just called to say that Nat West's solicitors have phoned offering full amount of over £3500 - cheque is in first class post today.

Just to say thank you for the support and advice from this forum; and to everyone still going through the process - keep at it! Make sure you've got documentation to back up your claim and be prepared to go all the way. Yes, my nerves went a bit wobbly on several occasions, but thankfully due to advice and information from this site and Martin's regular appearances on TV, we persevered. We started the procedure back in September 2006 so it might take a while but hang in there.

Now I can pay off at least some of our debts!!!!

    Good luck to everyone!
  • Am trying to claim over £2200 from Natwest (inc interest) - I sent first letter from this site 7th Feb asking for amount back and giving them 14 days to respond. Heard nothing. Sent second letter from this site on 22nd Feb asking for a response within 7 days or I would be filing a claim with the county court. I rang their Customer Relations Dept 08000154212 on 26th to see if they had received the letter. They said they had and that there was an offer on the computer for approx £670 (ha ha), which would be sent out to me in the next 8 weeks. They said that that is how long it takes for them to reply.

What I need help with is - do I wait for 8 weeks for an offer to arrive that I'm not even going to accept, or do I stick to the time limits I have set out in my letters and file this claim on line tomorrow?

Have read through this thread and it seems alot of people have recently had offers within days from Natwest, why don't they have a standard response, and why couldn't they have just sent me a reply saying they had received my letter weeks ago?? GRRRRR can't wait to get that money back off them!!

    Cool thank you.

When I file a claim should I ask for the amount without interest or with?
