    Hi Another newbie here.
I have just recieved my statements from natwest but only the last 3 years worth.
Did i need to contact them or will they send it seperately?

Did you order 6 yrs of statements? When I ordered mine, they told me they would arrive in 2 or 3 batches. You'll prob get the others separately.
    Good luck with your claim!

I'm sure it'll all work out - long as we read up on the process and follow the steps set out, we'll get our money back off our banks, I just know it!

    All the best,

I'm about to work out how much I can claim back off Natwest, and just suddenly had a very worrying thought - I feel quite sick :(

I currently have a personal loan with Natwest - would they make me repay it, if I win my unfair banking charges back? I think I read somewhere that, as that's a separate agreement (and in any case, I've never defaulted on payments) they couldn't do that to me. If they threatened that, could I take it to the Office of Fair Trading? I'm also wondering if I should use the OFT instead of the Small Claims Court, if it gets to that stage with my bank charges reclaiming

Feeling really down about this - hope someone can advise

I have done plenty readin here & elsewhere & see that it is a bit hit & miss on success stories but what have you got to lose, the way I see it is if you dont try getting your charges back how do you know if your going top be successful!

I have been rather sly about my account, I have a loan with Natwest & I also have an overdraft of £1100. I opened up an account with Lloyds TSB firstly. I then rang Natwest to restructure my current loan to incorporate my overdraft, this has been agreed & I am now waiting for my overdraft to be cleared, once this has been done I am going to issue my bank with my first letter which is ready to go! If anyone knows of any potential downfalls please let me know. The way I see it is if they close my account all I would do is pay my loan via Lloyds, if they demand the sum in full then I refer them to their T&C's! :rotfl:

I plan to send it Recorded Delivery, that way they cant deny receipt plus I have a signature of the recipient at the Branch.

To tell you a brief tale Natwest have charged me ever since I have had the account, I pay a cheque in expecting it to clear in the usual 3 days or so, they try deduct it the following day!!!! They bounce the cheque but charge me £28 when they havent actually paid the recipient, this then puts me over my overdraft limit & they charge me another £28 for that! I have rung up & played hell a few times & got it reduced & of late they have offered to refund half of it.

I plan to post my letter on March 1st (loan etc sorted by then hopefully) & i will let you all kow how it goes. In the meantime if any spots any stumbling blocks in my plans above do let me know!!

    Cheers :T

They come out in batches, if they aren't all there by the time the 40 days is drawing near give them a ring.

Provided your loan has had no problems it is a separate agreement and will be alright.

Its nothing to do with the OFT its the Financial Ombudsman that complaints can be made to and they will also reclaim bank charges for you but its likely it will take longer.

Thanks for that advice - I might sleep easier tonight!

  • Hi Everyone...

I'm on the case as well, sent off my letter last week, which by now should be on natwest's desk somewhere !

Anyway, i've just downloded the last 6 months of statements (only 6 months available on line)

just added up all the charges for last 6 months and total is a whopping £1,184 !

For 6 months !!!!! No wonder my DD's are bouncing every month.... boy i cant wait for the 6 years figure !

Also wondering about credit cards, is the process the same ?

    Thanks, Sam
  • Yes, just change the template to read you are claiming back latepayment fees and/or over limit fees.
