laura_d wrote:To be honest, I'm starting to wonder whether they just charge you to see if they can get away with it.
Both accounts incurred a £28 charge this month yet both accounts haven't gone over my overdraft limit in ages (in fact one account is dormant at 0.00 with an o/d facility of £100 so shouldn't incur charges ANYWAY!!
Hopefully someone with a similar situation will report their findings re the loan.
Oh yes, they've been charging just whatever they thought they could get away with. In one month alone, they put £180 charges on my account. I had rung them at the time to ask them for some leeway to sort out my finances and to stop these excessive charges, and the snotty young man I spoke to told me it was my problem to deal with and that their charges were quite within the law'. Yeah, right..
I'm determined to get every last penny back - and if they threaten to foreclose on my loan, then I'll take it to the Financial Ombudsman or whoever is appropriate to deal with it.
I'm just feeling really wound up with it all today, the sheer injustice of it all. Really really fed up with it.

Stax wrote:Hi,
I need some advice. I gave Natwest the 14 days days to give me back my bank charges, they kindly sent me another copy of my statements, annoyingly I got these ones for free and I paid £10 for the first lot. The first 2 letters went to my branch, should I send the LBA to my branch or should I send to the head office. If I send to the head office what is the address and who should I make for the attention of.
Also on the template letter for the LBA there is a section for the County Court, I live in Blackburn and my bank is in Bolton which court do I put down.
Regards Stax
Hi Stax
Send it to the branch you bank with. branch Managers are scared of Court Orders and Branch Managers are dealing with request more quicker then someone sending it to head office.
branch managers don't want to upset customers and they definitely dont want a court order against them.
Put down the court local to you, which I assume is Lancashire0 -

Hi,
Ok here is the story so far........
At the beginning of February i filled out my claim on the money claim website (cost £120), the very next day i received an offer from natwest totalling £1350.00 which is the full amount of charges i was claiming.
I wrote back to natwest stating that the offer was not good enough as i had started court proceedings and i wanted the charges plus court fees (£120). i felt this was the right thing to do as the letter from natwest was dated 11 days earlier than the date it arrived at my house.
I received a letter from natwest a couple of weeks later stating that they were looking into my claim.
in the meantime, natwest issued a defence and a couple of days ago i received the CPR18 request from natwest which i know is considered to be intimidation, they want a response by the 13th March.
I also received the allocation questionnaire which is due to be returned on the 19th March with a further £100 to pay.
I phoned natwest today to find out what the action was to be regarding my letter asking for charges plus court fees, they have said that they are not willing to make me another offer and that if i want to go to court then i can.
I have to say i think i have messed it up now and that most likely the judge will deem me greedy for not taking the offer. can anyone offer any advice on what i should do next or whether i should just forget the whole thing?
Thanks

Hi,
I got 6 years of statements through and I am shocked. I have an amazing total of charges for this Natwest Account .... £14: T :T .
I phoned them up to ask for the refund rather than both myself and Natwest going through the entire letter sending process - wasting my time and theirs. They said "NO!". They believes their charges are fair.
Just for that I'm going to put a claim for this and interest but I have two questions:
1) Where is the thread for all the address gone as I'm not too sure where to send the letters (the first was to the Data Protection Dept)?.
2) This charge of £14 was in Nov 2000 - so it is past the 6 year period so does anyone now of any issues regarding this type of claim.
Thanks in advance0 -
daft question, how long to natwest take to pay up when I've sent back the fom.0

Best to just send them back what they want and fill in the AQ if you are going to carry on. I'm sure if you check back the thread you'll find other users who have had to go this far to get their money back from the bank.
You'll find the guide to the AQ in the Reclaim Help Thread, link in my signature.0 -

The addresses are in posts 1 and 2 in the Reclaim Help Thread, link in my signature. If the charges are before the 6 year limit the bank will not refund.0
