my story so far. i phoned natwest to request my statements. cost £5 and i had them within a week. i wored it all out and sent them a letter on the 19th feb asking for all my charges plus intrest. it came to £3033.38p. i phoned them on the 25th to check they had the letter and they did and said it is being dealt with. and today a really nic elady phoned me and said it has been looked at and a letter offering the full amount is in the post to me. and if i am happy with this , send back saying i accept and they will put money straight into bank.

i am soooo pleased. i don't think it will sink in until money in bank.

also i said to natwest , could i kindly keep my account open. they lady replied . of course u can were happy for u to bank with us.

Natwest didnt respond to my 14 day or 7 day letter so i filled in online claim on 23rd February for £364 + interest.

I have received in the post today (5th March) a letter offering me the £364 in full & final settlement. I was already to reject obviously til i spotted they have dated the letter 22nd February!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now what???? Its now 5th March. I find it very hard to believe they dated this letter before i started claim but the postage isnt a dated one.

    Help please. Thanks.

seems like the offers are coming in thick and fast. I received a partial offer today from natwest. Claim was for just under 3k i got offered £743 i think. Needless to say i'll be rejecting the offer. It's court next i assume?

I had been extremly lazy with my claim. The last letter i sent them was in early febuary giving them 7 days before court and due to lack of funds and general laziness on my part i never went any further. however their offer today has spurred me on somewhat so i'll be working to get the full amount now.

Court action next correct? Any templates about

Holy! I am now even more elated at the prospect of reclaiming! Just started the process yesterday. All the employees I t
alked to were encouraging me to reclaim. I was wary but now I am hopeful!

    Good on you!

I spent a good portion of my day reading over the 1,000's of posts here and it encouraged me to get home, tot up all the charges and get claiming.

Somehow, I have managed to locate every single bank statement since account opening and have gone through the same noting £1,227.48 in bank charges in the last 6 years (incedentally how long I've had the accounts) - I was soooo shocked!

Main offender is a 2nd account thats not been in use for sometime but keeps going over drawn due to their charges. At one point it ended up £500 o/d purely because they kept applying £28 to it each month!!!

I guess this means I can skip the requesting a list of charges and can go straight to the requesting a refund stage. I'm going to draft a letter now and send same tomorrow - I'm really nervous and just hope they don't request me to pay back my loan in full. I've never defaulted on it and understand its in a seperate credit agreement so should be ok. If not, will have to speak to Abbey to see if I can transfer it to them as I have an old dormant I can use in case!

Thank you for all of your stories - so inspiring!

    Me again....

When contacting bank, presume I'm to send a list of charges I'm contesting. Would someone be kind enough to advise how much detail they had gone into or would the following suffice:-

"21/07/03 £28 Unarranged overdraft charge" etc

    Thanks again,
    Laura

Anyone know how long Natwest are taking to pay into accounts?
I got my offer letter and have replied accepting it but only as a partial offer with the reminder to follow..
  • Hi i'm thinking to claim back £700 from Natwest but I am worried as I am on a student account and i'm already in my overdraft and i'm worried with my credit rating I would have a hard time opening an other account with an overdraft. Is it possible Natwest may pay me the money back and cancel my overdraft? Any help or info given I appreciate alot! Thank you!
