Hiya everyone , i cant beleive whats just happened to us . I phoned natwest today to find out if they had made an offer yet because our 14 days from the first letter is up today , so i thought i would see if they had done anything . They out me through to the debt managment team and the lady i spoke to had a certain tone to her voice i wasnt too happy with , and she then started to ask questions like are you working i said no im disabled and she wanted to know how much our monthly income is blah blah . I said can i ask why you want to know these details since the bank account is in dispute as we sent you a letter 2 weeks ago now and have not heard anything back . She completely changed her voice to being very nice and started to look at the acc in q . As it turns out they have no record of them receiving our letter(which we did send recorded delivery) thanks god we did too . Basically she told me that we need to fax them the original letter from one of the local banks and its to be marked urgent . I am so gob smacked they have lost our letter as we have proof of it being signed for . Im am just praying they now that they will take a look at our letter and make an offer of payment .
If we dont hear anything in the next couple of days we are going to send the second letter , so our fingers are crossed we will not have to go to the small claims court .0 -
Oh has anyone got the borehamwood telephone number please because i want to make sure they do get the faxed letter .0

Send the letter before action giving them 7 days, you have been very patient!0 -
I have just started with the process of claiming charges.
I called my bank last week requesting the address for the Data Protection Manager and was put through to the lending dept wanting to know why I wanted the address.
I stated I wanted a list of my bank charges for last 6 years. The woman on the line told me I have to write to my local bank.
Rather then writing I just called my local bank and requested they send me my statements going back 6 years. The chap said I'll get it in 7 days and I will be charged £5 for the whole order.
Lets see if it works!
Thanks MSE. And if I get money back I'm gonna donate money to you guys.0 -
Gibble wrote:Hi
I've been browsing these forums for about a year now and only just noticed this bit of the forum (there was also a documentry on itv yesterday). I read the stickies and i'm kind of confused.
Couple of years back, i had a subscription with a usenet provider who put "automatic renew" on even when you select now at sign up, i didn;t know this at the time as far as i was concerned i had clicked no however when it came to the end of my subscription they made tried to take money out of my paypal account which then tried to take money out of my bank account which then got rejected and i had to pay an overdraft fee. There was also other times where i had just over £1 in my account and a payment was made that was a £1 and the band rejected it and i got another bank charge, from looking at my emails this happened twice.
Now these happened a long time ago, also i'm still under 18 only 17. Do i have a case?
Firstly, have you now cancelled your usenet subscription? There is no point in paying a subscription for a service you no longer use.
Secondly, if the bank have charged you for going overdrawn then you will be able to reclaim the charges. In your post you said that the bank rejected £1 payment, even though at the time you had more than that in the account. I would write to the bank asking for a full written explanation as to why they did this, and for any charge they applied to this particular transaction to be repaid to you (if indeed they DID charge you).
I don't think it matters that you are not yet 18, since the banks seem to act the same way towards all customers, regardless of their age. As for the usenet provider, is there any way in which you can contact them (email, telephone) and make a formal complaint about them continuing to charge you even though you had clicked the "no" box?
Good luck with it all

Thanks Deedee
The usenet subscription was cancelled as soon as it tried to renew, i did email them asking them about this auto-renewal, they replied with that IF your using paypal this is always set to yes reguardless if you select yes or no when signing up or in your options, however i explained how this was not stated at all on the site. The cancelled my account for me and waved away the money i should have paid for the next month that the bank declined.
As for the £1 charge, i will now write to the bank showing proof of my balance when the payment was requested.
This did happen in 2005 though0
