does anybody know if we can claim the charges back on a business account,do we have the same rights as a current account?

Hi all. Thought I would let you know about fun with Natwest I am having. I have been charged about 200 in fees. Constantly 12 every month since Oct in overlimit fees. These fees are the reason I am overlimit! Anyway, got my statements off them, and today got a Defualt Notice as I was over my limit (because of the fees). I had just posted the letter claiming the fees back and was angry to get this letter so phoned em up. I spoke to "Tom" and I mentioned the word illegal charges (which must be the trigger word!) and he stated that they were not illegal otherwise we wouldnt charge em blah blah. I said of course they are illegal; the law states financial penalties must not be puntative. I said if you can tell me now how me being 2 pounds over limit cost you 12 pounds I will hold my hands up and drop my claim. Response:
"Well, we could remove last months payment..."
"Why would you do that? According to you, you are perfectly within the law to charge me that!"
"As a gesture of goodwill..."
I said no thanks, I will wait until I get the whole lot back thanks!!

ABSOLUTELY! I also am a big fan of of saynoto0870.com . Phoning from overseas it is invaluable, but I would use it for EVERYTHING even if I was in the UK.

Sooooo handed in my N244 form in the court with a new particulars of claim and list of charges...I have copies ready to send to Cobbetts..

my question is should I wait to send copies to Cobbetts until I hear that the court have accepted them, or should I send them anyway in a hope that Cobbetts will realise that I mean business and hopefully settle up?

You can claim back some charges from a business account but not charges that include any annual/monthly services charges pertaining to a business account.

Just received acknowledgement letter from NW CreditCards. 17 days after the 14 day letter. Sent and faxed everyting again including 7 day letter. Was told they never received the letter (rec deliv) as I see they told somebody else on this thread. It is just a pantomime. My recommendation to anyone who hasn't started this process yet is send one letter giving them 7 working days to respond with full refund. If they don't, go to court.

Have heard offer stories after first letter, but it seems with Natwest (probably taking the hardest line) it is going to be games all the way. Don't waste your time and effort, get hardline back ASAP.

Already have claimed back for NW bus a/c. Have to say was much easier than current, but was for paltry 70 pounds. Nevertheless, go for it!

Very true! my viewpoint just comes from having to mess around with NW and listen to their misdirection and feigned ignorance.

Truth be told, Martin's techniques do work as they are about to give first slice back. Keep at it!
