I have tried and the responce I get is 'because you have a managed loan there is nothing we can do for you' even though I never asked for a managed loan they recommended it to me and at no point informed me that 'congratulations, HSBC have sucessfully screwed you over' but apparently I am a premium customer because I have a large amount of money going in to my account so I am entitled to all kinds of fancy things but technically Im not because of damn manged loan! Pfft I wish, hang on maybe if they didnt slap on charges every other day I might have a large amount of money IN my account!
 I'll get you debts and your little dog too!!!
And best of luck to all the other debt busters out there!!

Can I just ask who you spoke to about getting your loan reverted back into a sensible one? Do you know if they do that is it classes as a defaulted loan? Please keep me posted on your progress so if it works for you I can use your amo to terrorise HSBC.

Hi - am v new to this so have probably posted in the wrong place but need some valued advice please?!
Have sent all the required letters to the Halifax, as per the templates - the charges were for £1517 and they sent back an offer of just less than £500 which we refused and sent another letter giving them an option of paying us £1100 or we would go to court. We have had no response (generously gave them over 5 weeks!!)and i have now been trying to fill in the moneyclaim online form but Martin's form is too long even with the spaces taken out. It will not let me process any further.
Also i calculated that the charges were £ 1758.09 - does that appear to be correct or have i miscalculated?
Any advice appreciated as i am not particularly PC literate(as you can probably tell!!)

  • Hi al,

Followed your website after your second email, sayin get on it! so thought wo the heck! went to my old bank HSBC with the letter from your site askin for the total amount of charges for past 6 years, probably about 4 tho as havent been wiht them for a couple of years, included cheque for a tenner as per instructions, this is the reply

'Thank you for your request with regard to information about transactions and charges/fees on your accoun

We note you did not request copy statments, however this is the only format in which the company holds the info you require. For this reason copy statements have been ordered on your account. these will begin to arrive in seperate batches and will be with you shortly.

We are happy to cover any fees for the production of this info and we return your payment.

If you require more info plz let us know.'

Would u say they are quakin in there boots or are just playin games with me, as i would say they owe me a small fortune! just really need to know if im winnin at this point or not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks Steve

Is it possible to claim back the interest charges as well or am I being overly optimistic here? And what about credit card charges - does the same process apply to those as to bank accounts? BTW for info - wrote to HSBC asking for 6 years of statements on personal and business account (both were closed a year ago) sending a tenner (didn't want to send them a cheque with new bank details on!) and they sent all statements PLUS returned the £10 note saying they don't charge for this!

£10 note seems to be the way to go then ! I sent HSBC a cheque and the cashed that PDQ. Is this a loophole do we think ?

You're at an early stage, but if you follow the guide, you should get your money back.
