  • I love HSBC... We are still snowed in today so I just called them again and told them I believed they had deliberately lost my loan application because I had claimed back bank charges and that I would be kicking off in court if these papers didn't suddenly appear. Lo and behold, they suddenly appeared! Took 20 days for the forms to get through their own system... Of course, if my £773 in claimed charges doesn't appear in my account on Monday, I shall be shouting at them again... I love making people cry :D

Well done I hope it all works out for you!

    Hi Everyone.

Im a complete novice to this and read quite a few posts but would like some reasssurance in the advice!!

I want, like everyone, to get my bank chrgs back, partly because HSBC, are useless. But I have a managed loan on the acct. Now I know Ive read that loans are seperate agreements and therefor if they close my acct i shudnt have to repay this amount within the time limits however when I took the loan out they said the repayments had to come from tht acct. The mngd loan is different from the normal flexi loans etc. I havent had a chrg since 2005 so really got myself sorted etc and think theyd take that into acct.

Is it worth it for 380 pounds??????

I have a managed loan with HSBC (second one; I had another one when I reclaimed my charges but needed to take out a new loan to cover the old one... which in turn had been taken out to pay off a professional studies loan... I'm a bit of a mess...anyway...) and they've been fine with me. They have not made a move to shut my account and I negotiated this loan after I had started the claim for charges. I am under the impression that HSBC are behaving themselves with people who ask for their charges back. If I were you, I'd go for it.

Its an initial request for money, should i now send an LBA if so where can i get a template for this?

The time scale is on your terms not theirs, stick to the 14 days and if they haven't made you an offer threaten them with court action, there are templates on this site so you can do this, good luck, fingers crossed for you

    Hello everyone
I'm in a bit of trouble too.. I've been claiming charges from abbey and have so far got £185 off the letters so I went to mcol for the rest and I recieved a letter from them saying abbey would defend well I checked my balance this morning and abbey have refunded a further £185 leaving £315 still outstanding. I am aware that I am suppossed to let the court know if they do this but I can't find any of the links to this information. Does anone know how to help me?! Please!!!!

The amount may have changed, but the claim process should still go ahead. Even if you are happy to accept the total offered, you need something in writing from Abbey or they could say it was a mistake and take it back! I should wait until you hear further.

What is with these managed loans???
I have one and they are supposed to help you get out of debt, all mine has done is cost me thousands in interest and drop my credit rating so that I cant even open a basic bank account, the joke is my debt wasn't even that bad but with the bull poo jargon they fling at you when you go to ask for help makes it sound like the answer to your prayers and infact it drags your prayers through the mud, stamps on them a few times and throws it right back where the sun doesnt shine!!!

3 years on and I am no closer to paying off loanthat I pay the same as before on just with 66% of my payment going on interest and if i had stuck with original arrangement I would be debt free by now and not in the situation where I have only paid £500 off of the loan in 3 years!!!

Surely these should be looked into by FSA or another higher force????

My guess would be that if they get you to sign on the dotted line for a managed loan the comission alarm bells ring!!! As I said before and I stick to it 'HSBC THE MONEY GRABBING BANK!'
