i have requested my unfair charges back from HSBC. i sent a letter on the 19th of january requesting 2996 + 515 in interest and gave them 14-days to reply. i received a letter on the 1st of february saying the relevant department (Colin Langdale Senior Service Quality Officer) would look in to the problem and get back to me in due course. they included a leaflet explaining their procedures in which it says it could take 6 to 8 weeks to have a response. is this a stalling tactic banks use to see if people forget about the problem or are they being genuine. if it is a stalling tactic is now the time to put in the second template letter to force the issue.Me
HSBC claimed £2996.50+interest accepted £2611
Capital one cc requested charges
Mables cc requested charges
Mint cc requested charges
MBNA cc's requested charges
Sainsburys cc requested charges
Sony cc requested charges
I am not paying the £10 each time on the basis that there maybe no charges. i will only pay if the request it.
Girlfriend
HSBC claimed £1295.23+interest still outstanding
Capital one cc requested charges
Alliance and Leicester requested charges
Mate
Capital one claimed £440+interest he accepted £150 goodwill0 -

thanks crabman, yeah I've just checked the letter again, it is an aknowledgment, but they have requested 28 days to file a defence, theres a box at the bottom they have ticked saying "I intend to defend the whole claim", that's the bit that worried me. Is it possible they could get it thrown out on a technicality?0 -
Hi Everyone.
Im a complete novice to this and read quite a few posts but would like some reasssurance in the advice!!
I want, like everyone, to get my bank chrgs back, partly because HSBC, are useless. But I have a managed loan on the acct. Now I know Ive read that loans are seperate agreements and therefor if they close my acct i shudnt have to repay this amount within the time limits however when I took the loan out they said the repayments had to come from tht acct. The mngd loan is different from the normal flexi loans etc. I havent had a chrg since 2005 so really got myself sorted etc and think theyd take that into acct.
Is it worth it for 380 pounds??????0 -
I AM SO ANGRY I COULD CRY!!!!
Is it me or do HSBC seem to be wacking on charges willy nilly at the moment I have had 3 this week!
I spoke to a guy last night at HSBC and he told me I wouldnt get any more charges this week and suprise suprise logged on to online banking this morning and bam £25 charge!!! He didnt get the ear bashing I was prepared to give because he put on the caring bank employee act!
I am so mad!
Are they doing this because I am claiming off of them and it is too late to ask for these back??? or maybe I can, can i???Can I start another claim for the past 2 months as I havent signed any kind of disclaimer with them as they are stalling?
The worlds local bank my foot, more like the money grabbers bank! Remind me why we dont keep our money in a shoe box???? I'll get you debts and your little dog too!!! :mad:And best of luck to all the other debt busters out there!!:beer:0 -
I have been in correspondance with hsbc since december, firstly with a letter asking for my statements, secondly a letter with all my bank charges which they asked for in a specific layout.
The latter is a letter I have downloaded from the net giving them 14 days to reply.
I have since received a letter from them letting me know that they are looking into it for me, however they stated this could take upto 8 weeks.
Its been nearly 3 weeks since i sent the 14 day letter and i just want some advice what to do? Do i keep pestering them for a response/offer or do i wait patiently for a reply within the 8 weeks?
Help would be much appreciated0 -
Was the last letter you sent a Letter Before Action or just an initial request for the money?0

I love HSBC... We are still snowed in today so I just called them again and told them I believed they had deliberately lost my loan application because I had claimed back bank charges and that I would be kicking off in court if these papers didn't suddenly appear. Lo and behold, they suddenly appeared! Took 20 days for the forms to get through their own system... Of course, if my £773 in claimed charges doesn't appear in my account on Monday, I shall be shouting at them again... I love making people cryWith all of my dietary restrictions, I'm left with lipstick and water0 -
