In their Letter, they have said that if I am not happy with the offer then I can escalate it to the Senior Manager (service quality team).
They have also added that they will not accept my including any interest as they do not find it appropriate and therfore their offer does not include any.
They don't have to pay any interest when you first write to them. You are only entited to this once you issue a court claim. If you have already issued a court claim, you want to settle now for charges+interest+court fee.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Thanks AdamB and SonnyCash for your quick replies. I really appreciate it and have gained confidence from your responses. I hope it is fun! I've enjoyed the process so far in a warped kind of way!!
HSBC now have until Monday 12th before I take things further. I'm claiming just over £700 (including interest).
I'll keep the forum updated on my progress

I asked for the call to be noted and that the above be noted on my file, and obtained the name of the person i spoke to.
I am going to follow this up with a letter sent reg post clarifying my position.
Do i keep the £35 somewhere or spend it as i normally would?
Send the letter recorded (not registered) and spend the money! Be prepared to go to Court using the templates provided thru' this site. Moneyclaim online is very easy.
Good luck.0 -

They are now refusing to tell me if my loan is going through or not... Said I would have to go to a branch which is all very well except my nearest bank is 3 miles away and we're snowed in... Is this normal or are they just being awkward with me for asking for my money back? With all of my dietary restrictions, I'm left with lipstick and water0 -
I've been with my bank (HSBC) for just over 7 years. I've had a few charges but not a lot (less than £300 I think, need to double check). I wouldn't mind getting this money back but I'm weary of doing this in case the bank wants to close my account.
We've got our mortgage with them and I also have business banking account and small business loan. I'm self employed and HSBC have always given me the loan I needed and I know that later this year my business will need to make some investments and I will need to change my loan.
I don't want to change banks because of all the accounts we have with them (also have a joint account with DH there) and they were the only ones that weren't a pain when we changed our mortgage a few months ago.
How likely is it for them to want to close my current account if I try to claim back the charges?0 -
All banks can and some do close accounts/withdraw overdrafts but I think its unlikely with a claim of £300.0

Hi All,
I have sent my request for a full refund including interest. I have just received a letter which states they are going to look into my complaint but that it will take 28 days! I wrote beck and said this was not acceptable as I have furnished them with dates etc and that it should only take them a couple of hours to sort it out.
I then went on to say that as a gesture of goodwill I will give them an extra 7 days and then I would pursue through the courts. If they paid before then it would save them an extra 120 pounds in court fees.
Do you think I did right or should I have stuck to the orignal 14 day deadline.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Try opening an online account with A&L. I was asked a few simple Q's on the phone and accepted straight away. Might be worth a try0

Karma wrote:Hey all,
(Have asked in the HSBC thread but no reply and really would like to start the ball rolling tomorrow)....
I'll be sending off my 1st letter to HSBC data protection tomorrow but before I do - I could use a little bit of advice.
I have one main current account with HSBC, which has 2 cards assigned to it (I asked for this years ago to help separate bills/spending). Both of these cards have over-drafts which are maxed out every month, and I regularly get charged for this.
I also have a credit card with HSBC and although I am slowly reducing the amount, there have been many occasions when I have gone over my credit agreement.
Within the past 6 years, I have had a HSBC flexi-loan, which I had a few charges from.
When I write to the data-protection department at HSBC, do I just quote my main account number or will I need to include the account/reference number of each card/loan etc.
Cheers
I quoted all account numbers in one letter, I dont know if that is right but they sent me statemnts for all the accounts I mentioned! Good luck! I'll get you debts and your little dog too!!! :mad:And best of luck to all the other debt busters out there!!:beer:0
