  • thanks dixie i'm going for it!!! yeah i have another account and the refund will pay back a good portion of the o/d... right! will keep you posted...
  • HSBC said I could have the money I had claimed back last week. Then they wrote to me today and offered me another £700+ on top... I thought that was jolly nice of them but called them just to check. Apparently, they are so swamped that they are messing letters up all over the place... I might ask them if they wanna employ me... ;-)
i've just recieved a duplicate letter today. I was contemplating signing it and sending it back to see what happens. on reflection i think that would be pushing my luck.
  • what would be the consequences if you did sign it and send it back?! perhaps you could say you presumed the first one wasn't processed? pushing it perhaps... but it would be nice :rotfl:
  • Hi Reecos

    Thanks for the reply.

I have double checked the sticky and the original article and they say the first claim letter is to go to local branch - hence my original question.

The contact listS in the sticky appear to be for firstly asking for the statements which I already have and then the list of where to send court papers to.

So back to square one - does this mean the account holding branch or any local branch I can walk into?

Sorry for being dumb - just want to get the steps right.

    Cheers
Proud to be dealing with my debts! :T

I have sent all of my letters to the address in the sticky.

I would not reccomend sending any letters to your local branch but to the address in the sticky and by using recorded delivery.

I've looked through the template letters and the step by step instructions and can't see that it says to send your letters to your local branch anywhere!

    Hey all,

Another newbie to all this I'm afraid. I'll be sending off my 1st letter to HSBC data protection tomorrow but before I do - I could use a little bit of advice.

I have one main current account with HSBC, which has 2 cards assigned to it (I asked for this years ago to help separate bills/spending). Both of these cards have over-drafts which are maxed out every month, and I regularly get charged for this.

I also have a credit card with HSBC and although I am slowly reducing the amount, there have been many occasions when I have gone over my credit agreement.

Within the past 6 years, I have had a HSBC flexi-loan, which I had a few charges from.

When I write to the data-protection department at HSBC, do I just quote my main account number or will I need to include the account/reference number of each card/loan etc.

    Cheers

The lady I spoke to said that if I had have sent in the duplicate form, they would have paid me but they would probably have eventually noticed... She was very helpful and seemed concerned that I hadn't yet received my money back (I'm not worried but I wish they'd pay up quick as I want/need new glasses) so she chased it up and came back to say that they are, again, so flooded with refunds that it's being very slow to hand the cash back over...

Post 4 of this sticky thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=304064
    mentions the following:
"Once you've got your statements back. You need to write to your bank and ask them for the charges you are reclaiming (sending a list of the charges with the letter). These letters (including templates) are covered in step 3 and step 4 of Martins article.

For this section of your claim, you can send the letters to your local branch. Don't forget to send all your letters recorded/registered post. This way you have proof they received them."
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:

    Ok, Ok

    I take it all back.

I still think that you would be better off writing to the head office though.
