You will be able to claim the £125 for going over the limit. What were they charging you the £50 a month for?0

Well, I finally received a letter, yesterday, 2 days before the 14 day deadline from that nice Mr Colin Langdale 'we are investigating............' blah blah blah, will let you know......blah,blah, blah!!
Well tough, the next stage letter goes in tomorrow. Fingers crossed XProud to be dealing with my debts ONE day at a timeStopped smoking 25.05.07 - Saving £7.80 a day:j Successfully claimed bank charges of £2598.39 as of 1st June 2007:j0 -
Just a quick enquiry I went through my statements online last night, on a lot of my charges it simply says "total charges" will the bank not want to know what kind of charge it is?
Also I have heard people mention that they have used there messaging service connected with the internet banking on hsbc's site as opposed to sending them in, I'm fine with sending them in but this seems quite interesting.
thanks for being patient with me this is my first post.:o0 -
If it doesn't give an exact description of your charge, phone the bank and ask.
I would put everything in writing, not via secure messaging and always send your letter registered then you know the bank have received them.0 -
Just logged onto this excellent site, and have had a quick scan through the above. Forgive me for being a little slow to pick up on it all, but in short i am with HSBC and have been since 1993), and have an overdraft facility of £1600.00. Last month (and a few times last year too) i exceeded this overdraft limit and have been charged £125.00 for exceeding the limit, and £19.00 interest....Of interest, i recieve NO statements as i stopped them with the advent of my getting the internet banking going, but i also recieve NO statement of charges, no letters from HSBC whatsoever, except the usual offers of credit cards etc.
Am i able to claim this back?0 -
You will be able to claim the charges back but not the overdraft interest.

Hi all
Just a quick question - I sent off my first letter rtogether with a list of charges requesting for them to be paid in full on 16th Jan. "Mr Collingdale" has kindly got back to me to say that will give a full response etc etc.
However "he" seems to think that the letter was dated 22nd Jan. I plan to continue with my next letter as per my schedule - but I was wondering why they believe the letter is dated 22nd. I sent it recorded aswell.
has anyone else experienced this.
TIA

Possible typo on your part, or a possible mistake on their part due to the amount of claims they are dealing with. This is a minor point, and not one to worry about. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Thanks for that Rex
My main concern was wether I was fulfilling the 14 days that I highlighted. Luckily I have a copy of the letter with the 16th on it and also the fact that it was recorded delivery.
I shall continue on Monday with my next letter.
I must say it feels quite nice not to give a multinational bank no breathing space. This really is empowerment. Excellent site! :j :j0
