    Evening all,

I have just counted up a scary £1800 of charges throughout my bank statements. These charges range from £20 to £75. There are a few charges for 'Unpaid Item' for £10 can I claim these also?

Does anyone know the difference between and 'unpaid item' charge and a 'DD reversal' charge please?

    Many thanks in advance.

unpaid means exactly item hasnt been paid

DD reversal means the Direct debit has been returned.

you can claim for all of these charges

  • Hi there.
New to all of this, so sorry if this has already been discussed.
In short, I recently sent off a reclaim letter taken from the template, the last 6 years charges noted on an Excel template and photocopies of all my bank statements with all charges highlighted. HSBC have retunerd the whole lot to me a week later with a covering letter stating, "We regret that the Bank is not able to assist you with the analysis of your accounts. This is not something the Bank is obliged to do under legislation, including the Data Protection Act. Your breakdown should be in the form of a list quoting the date, amount and description of the charge from your statements. A total should be included as suggested below. [they have inserted a suggested format for listing charges]
Please accept our apologies if our original letter did not make our requirments clear."
Blah blah blah... Is it me, or is this a way of telling us to get lost?
    Any comments much appreciated.

It does sound rather strange as you seem to have presented it in 2 ways already so what more can they expect?? Can you give more detail of what format they are suggesting you present the info in so we can have a look please?

Has anyone had their charges refunded against a loan? I have £2833 charges I am trying to claim back, but I also have a personal loan with the bank of £5000.

Are they likely to refund the charges, but pay off part of the loan with them (to bring it down to £2167) rather than put the £2833 into my current account? Has anyone had this issue?
£2.4k received back from HSBC in charges!! Woo! That's MY money, HSBC, thanks!

Sounds like they are playing at being awkward. If the format of the spreadsheet printout was clear, including, Charge Name, Date and Amount with a total, this should be acceptable. You were not asking them for any 'analysis'.

If you are happy that the information you sent was accurate and clear then I would progress to the next stage.

Hi everyone, I have just got home and found an offer from HSBC waitnig on my doorstep woo hoo!!

However, i was in a branch today and in a nutshell my borrowng ability with them has suddenly dissappeared. I know for a fact that i was 'pre-approved' for loans of up to £10K before Christmas, as well as overdrafts, flexi loans etc. Today my borrowing ability with them was £nil for everything. The customer advisor i spoke to said she hadn't seen this scenario before and that she couldn't understand it, having checked my HSBC customer/credit profile.

Is this because i am currently in dispute with them or is it the fact that now i've claimed off them, they don't want to know me?

Has anyone else experienced banking difficulties post a successful claim? Ideally i would want to continue banking with HSBC, but obviously wouldn't if meant future problems!! Any advice?

I had exactley the same letter, but merely resent the first letter with a copy of the charges calculator from Martin's site. 12 days later they replied saying they were looking into it, then 6 days later i get an offer!! Just keep going, they know they've got to pay out, you know they've got to pay out! It will happen!
