Thanks I have told them that I will do that. Just wanted to know if it sounded right to anyone else. I was almost certain that it wasn't. Can I do that before the 40 days are up or should I wait.0 -
AAAAAAARRRGGGH!
Still no offer letter, either the original or the copy, now 10 days after they say they sent it first class!0 -
I have been aware of this site for some time. I have been aware of my discontent at the hideous charges being bestowed upon me for some time longer. Every time I saw those charges of up to £100 a month I have asked myself the question of 'how can they just do that?'. It's like they just 'legally' put their hand in your back pocket and robbed your hard earned money. A friend of mine just got £600 back just by complaining to the bank, so I thought why not go for it. The proverbial straw was this months statement charging me £100 for going... you guessed it, £100 overdrawn. If it wasn't for the previous months charges it wouldn't have happened. So I'm paying charges for the charges I've payed already. This is annoying. One month I saw myself being deprived of £150 in two separate £75 installments because my 'unauthorised overdraft' went over the billing period. I'm always in credit at the end of the month so this is a p*** take.
Well I now have the new bank account and will soon be transfering all my stuff to that (took 40 minutes to get a confirmation online so my credit must be good, which makes the charges more annoying).
Have now printed the 1st letter ready to send by registered post.
I will post the results and thanks for the impetus. Even if I fall you guys have done a great job highlighting this issue and already getting back many pounds for other folks. I will take this to the end.

Does anyone have the phone number for the hsbc data protection service team? I cant locate it anywhere. Im dealing with a chap called Colin Langdale. Its the number I need for the initial address you send off to?
Ta!I've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.0 -
After claiming £1993.65 inc interest from HSBC I received an offer of £1507.71 this morning. I am going to accept this offer as I was apprehensive about the court procedure and to be honest £1500 is a hell of alot of money to us!!!!
Only problem is, they want to pay the amount into my HSBC current account, which is still up and running but I no longer use. I am currently repaying my debts through a company called payplan and only use this account to make payments towards my overdraft and loan.
Due to them being very awkward however, they refuse to accept my reduced loan payment offer and therefore I have not made a payment towards my loan for about 5 months, until December as there was insufficient funds in the account (which of course they charged me for!!). If they pay the money into my account can they take it and put it towards my loan without my say-so? Can I ask for the payment in cheque?
Help on the matter will be much appreciated as I only have 10 days to respond and the letter is dated 18th January.
Thank yoooouuuu!

Barclaycard have 40 days from the time you first contacted them to provide the information you asked for.
Thank you for your help. Other people have said it but I would also like to say that you and Rex_mundi do a fantasic job on these boards and I'm sure I'm speaking for a lot of people when I say that your help is very much appreciated. :T
Barclaycard have had over 40 days but I am unsure how to push them to provide this data. I have sent them 2 letters now with no response. Who can I contact to make a complaint about this?0 -
Hi
am writing this on behalf of my daughter.
She took out a loan with HFBC approx 8/9 years agowith insurance she got into difficulties with the loan when she was out of work the insurance she had been paying claimed they diddnt cover this, and in June 2001 the debt was passed over to DG solicitors whom she has been paying back monthly ever since.
Her Question is if she puts into HFBC for her statements for the last 6 years she will only have approx 5 months of statements to come from them, as when the bank passed her debt over they closed her account 5 mths statements may not show very much is it worth her claiming? would be grateful for any help before we go ahead
Thanks0 -

Barclaycard seem to prove difficult, have a read of this thread and perhaps you can quote some of it to them...

It reads to me that should she make a claim then DG solicitors would expect the money to be paid to them so probably not worth making a claim.0 -
