Are they charging that on top of the £10 cheque? Are they allowed to do that?0

Hi
I have started reclaiming my charges from HSBC. I have received my statements and sent my first LBA 2 weeks ago and have yet to receive any contact whatsoever. I would like to send them a 2nd LBA advising them that I will be taking action but wondered how long I should be giving them to contact me. Is 2 weeks on the 1st letter and then another week on the 2nd long enough or are there procedures I have to follow? I have searched but have not found any time limits on these 2 letters.
I have also requested my statements from Barclays for a Barclaycard however they advised that they could not find details of my account as it was closed in 2003. I replied back with all the details but have still had no response. Again this was 2 weeks ago.
Can anyone help with this?

No, they haven't already taken a payment via internet banking (although i assumed they would because it was noted as made the request for the statements).
more procrastinating maybe?0 -
Hi I am new to this.
My dh and I are thinking of trying to reclaim the unlawful charges made by our bank HSBC but dh is worried that they will also shut down our mortgage,
does anyone have any advice/experince of this, we have 3 kids and are worried.0 -
Call them. After you bypass India, they are VERY helpful in this matter, I called them daily and it does take just over a week to recieve funds into your account.
Check online banking at 12:01am each night and they'll have appeared....0 -
They can they re just trying to make money out of you. But it is worth writing to them.0

i accepted their offer basically. so i'm just waiting for the funds to be sent to me. my hsbc account has been closed for two years so they wont credit that account. i asked them to credit my natwest account or send me a cheque but it's beyond the seven days they said....!!
is there a number i can call - free of course - or do i wait?0 -
Hi. I have recently claimed from HSBC. I have received the money from them and they have not closed my account. I also have a loan with them. Not quite as much as you, only 5k but that hasnt been affected by my claim. My advice would be go for it!reesla wrote:Hi all,
Need a bit of advice - I want to reclaim the bank charges off my HSBC account, but I have a Career Development Loan with HSBC, currently standing at around £12k, which is due to start being repaid this year in June.
Has anyone had any experience with HSBC with regard to claiming bank charges - my concern is that if they close the account, will they demand early repayment of the loan? I haven't 12K to give them in a lump sum
Any one have any advice to offer or been in a similiar experience?
Thanks0 -
In your letter before action you presumably gave them a time limit before you started court proceedings, if you did and they haven't replied you then start the court action now.Hourglass wrote:Hi

Barclaycard have 40 days from the time you first contacted them to provide the information you asked for.0
