Got an offer yesterday of £508 - asked for £690.89
The deciding factor of whether to continue is time really, how much longer is it going to take to pursue the extra money?
Also, going to court means my father losing £100 per day as he's self employed. Or could this be claimed back from them if we win?No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Hi all,
Need a bit of advice - I want to reclaim the bank charges off my HSBC account, but I have a Career Development Loan with HSBC, currently standing at around £12k, which is due to start being repaid this year in June.
Has anyone had any experience with HSBC with regard to claiming bank charges - my concern is that if they close the account, will they demand early repayment of the loan? I haven't 12K to give them in a lump sum
Any one have any advice to offer or been in a similiar experience?
Thanks0 -
One thing has nothing to do with the other. If you are not behind with the payments for your loan (obviously you aren’t, as repayment hasn’t started yet), they cannot ask for repayment.
Just make sure, once payments start, to pay the agreed amount and on time. The bank might not give you a great deal of leniency.
Go ahead with your claim. The bank might close your current account, but not the loan account (as long it’s in good standing).0 -

but I would advice you to phone your bank for clarification of any particular terms they use.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! But what about Temp Overdraft Limit Fees? I've seen a few of those in my statements at £20 a go. Also, when a statement says 'Total Charges to (insert date)' does this refer to say going over one's overdraft limit and is legit to claim back?0 -

Morning All,
i'm posting this thread to hopefully get some help and advice about claiming my bank charges back..i've been considering claiming them but now i'm becoming pretty worried about my lack of money and it's time to sort things out.
I'm with HSBC and i'm about to send my first letter, do i send it to my local branch or to HSBC's head office?
what i'm most concerned about is the fact i have a loan with hsbc, if i go ahead and reclaim the charges can they close my account and force me to pay the rest of the loan off straightaway?
i'm really desperate for some advice now...thanks to anyone who can help me out.0 -

Your loan is a different agreement with the bank and shouldn't be affected by your reclaim.

i'm going to try to find a new account with another bank now...and then post my letter.0 -
Have a read of Martin's article about Top New Bank Account in the links in my post and read this thread about basic bank accounts
Hopefully in fact you won't need a new bank account.0
