Many people have succesfully claimed from HSBC. Maybe they can't cope with all the requests and are now only bothering acting when a claim is filed!

One letter, and one £10 payment is enough to get info on both accounts. You are asking the bank for all the info they hold on you (as is your right under the DPA). It doesn't matter how many accounts this includes (still active or closed)

Read THIS THREAD to see which banks people are reporting back as closing your account when you've claimed.

hi! Thanks... I think i worded my post wrong.. I am not writing to them asking for my statements as I have access to them online.. I spent loads of last night going through it all and have noted down all my charges and the dates of them all, (over both accounts the total amount I have been charged is £4,077.59! ) So I am about to do the letter requesting for my charges to be paid back. I think I am going to do 2 seperate letters as they are for 2 accounts. Do I send them my lists of charges and dates with the letters?
    thanks very much!

  • Hi Guys, hope someone can help on this.

we are trying to claim about £2500 from HSBC (my partners account so unsure of exact amount he has all paperwork) we have sent off the second letter and we received a reply to say they would be looking into his request and would get back to him in 4 weeks. The 4 weeks has now lapsed and we have had no response from them.
Do we send another letter or call asking for a response?
i know the next stage is the moneyclaim website but we cannot afford fees at the moment (hence the need to try and claim this money back!) should we just leave it untill the new year and then file a claim or should we be pushing them for a response in the meantime?

Firstly, you need not wait 4 weeks. You set the timetable, so when the expiry of your deadline passes, you move to the next stage.

In your case, you have a problem. As you don't have the money for the court fees, you cannot proceed with the claim. When you have the funds I would file the claim immediately.

Although it's up to you, I wouldn't bother phoning or writing to them again. Many banks now don't return any money until the court action has started.
  • thanks for your quick reply nickmack,

is there anyway we can find out what the court fees will be before we submit the claim? if we know then we can try and scrape the money togather before january hopefully at least then we would know what we are working towards does anyone know?
