a. Yes
b. If this is your first letter, send them another saying you will be taking them to court if they don't pay up ( Letter before action=LBA )
c. YES! Show them that you want YOUR money back. They didn't suffer with a backlog when they were grabbing it from your account, did they?
Have a look at the HSBC forum on https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk for other people's experiences with HSBC.

Yes, you can claim all the fees applied to your account over the last 6 years.
If you have all your statements and know how much your charges are you need to send them this 1st letter HERE including a spreadsheet of your charges HERE
If you dont know what your charges are you will need to Send this request including the £10 fee to the banks registered address, using the letter HERE
Remember to change the details on the letter(s) to your own circumstances and always send by recorded delivery so you can track if they have received it!
Hope this helpsI Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
Hi. I would appreciate if someone can enlighten me. I would like to reclaim bank charges from HSBC but I don't know if I will be entitled to it.
I have a £1500 overdraft with my HSBC current account but it gets overdrawn continuously every month. My salary gets paid into this account but because I only get the same amount as my overdraft per month, its a vicious cycle everytime. Last month, I got charge £100 as 4 of my direct debits was paid when I was already overdrawn so that's £25 a piece. Is it legal for them to charge me the amount for every transaction? I know I should have cancelled my direct debits and monitored my outgoings but too late for me to realise. This month they are charging me £75.
Given the scenario, can I reclaim for bank charges? or should I just charge it to experience. I have a credit card and personal loan with HSBC as well. Will this be affected if I start a claim from the bank?0 -
Hi All,
I will be really thankful to all who read my message and even more greatful if you reply and suggest.
I was charged £76.00 for going above my overdraft limit for 4times within a month.I sent a pleasant email them requesting them to refund. They refused on my first mail but on my 2nd mail they have agreed to refund £25 as a goodwill gesture.
They have sent me the details of my overdraft transactions. They said I went £176 over the limit and should have been charged £100 but they have already charged less by £24.They say that they have charged correctly according to bank standard tariffs.
Can you please guide me that what can I do now to get the remaining amount back?I know it might not sound a big amount to you but being unemployed it really means a lot to me..
I will be very much greatful for any of your help. Thanks in advance!0 -
You can reclaim the charges on your current account, your credit card and loan are seperate legal agreements, so HSBC shouldn't touch these if payments are up to date.0
