  • Sorry if this has already been covered but I'm still finding my way around this forum. Does anyone know how long banks have to respond to your claim. I put my claim in to HSBC on the 22nd May and I received an acknowledgement letter about a week later, but nothing since. Should I chase it up now?

    Welcome Babyembie!
The banks have 8 wks to respond, it's up to you what you want to do tho. you can threaten court action after 2 wks, or you can wait the 8, usually, they make an offer after the 8 wks. Or you can use the Financial Ombudman, like myself, but the FO won't do anything until the 8 wks. How much are you claiming for? My theory is the larger the amount, they turn you down, smaller claims, they pay up, but that's my theory.
Any questions you have post on here, it's very helpful & useful :D

Morning Lou and Trace, Morning Everyone!

I agree totally with you two and think that I really will self combust sometime today  This waiting is killing me!! I'm really hoping my money will go in overnight tonight but what's killing me the most is know that they have until Friday to pay me  ! I think they have damn well made us wait long enough already and they just have to keep us hanging on that little bit longer. I know we should think ourselves lucky that it is on the way but come on, how long does it really take them to transfer money into our accounts? Not the full 14 days I'm sure!!!

I'm struggling to concentrate at work today  , my mind keeps drifting.......

Where was I?! Oh yes, money money money, it's the only thing I can think about these days!! Hopefully this claim will be done and dusted by the end of the week but i've got another one 'maturing' on July 31st so i'll have the wait and anticipation all over again!!

What are we gonna do when we've all got our money??!! I'll be lost without this site! :rotfl:
