  • I started the process at the end of March requesting my bank statements. Have been with HSBC for just over 3 years and added up £1,800 in overdraft. Wrote initial letter asking for fees without interest. Waited 2 weeks and wrote again with the template asking for 25% less. Still no reply. Finally had a letter stating they were investigating my claim. Heard nothing else so I rang them and was told that HSBC is taking a full 8 weeks to investigate due to the high volume of claims being submitted. So my next tentative date on my calendar is July 30th as they claim they started investigating May 30th, even though my registered letter was sent earlier.

I just hope now they offer me the full amount and not go by my 2nd letter suggesting I'd take less. I had written that at the time after 2 weeks from my first letter and without prejudice and if they would settle quickly. I don't consider 2+ months quick so we shall see.

Like everyone else I can desperately use this money if it comes in.

Sam, Lou, hopefully you'll get over the next couple of days. The feeling was brilliant. I've paid off 2 credit cards this morning, and a stack of bills that were piling up. I don't think i'll have much left from this, but it feels good, just to be able to pay a few small things off.

lysady, fingers crossed for you, expect an offer around the 85% mark as that tends to be the case with HSBC. Probably arrive just before the 8 weeks, but I'd chase them around the 27th to double check

Just traceppp to sort out now

I had the same, they said they would look into it and you hear nothing for ages. Truth is they think you will go away/give up etc. Go in for the kill and take it to small claims asap. I wish I had done this earlier instead of thinking they would pay up before.

    Hi all:T

If you have a read through hsbc pay out around the seventh to eighth week from when they receive your initial letter with amount you want to claim back, just give them a gentle email through your online banking around seven weeks, quite a few of us have waited and have received offers in last two weeks. Think you ll find it is alot quicker than the court route. Don t expect to receive 100% they are paying out around the 85% plus and you will only be entitled to the interest in you take it to court.

    Good luck

Got to agree with Lou on this. If you take them to court now you'll be at the back of the queue and the way things are you prob would of heard from the bank before your even allocated a court date. Please read back through this thread first before you do anything. So many people have gone down the court route and have regretted it as its taken longer. If you want the interest then you have no choice but to go through small claims though
