hi everyone im a newbie to this forum. Ive been with hsbc for around 8 years and dread to think of how much ive accumulated in charges on my account! Ive got a personal account and a credit card account with them and wondered about reclaiming the charges from both accounts. Are they easy to deal with or do they make life difficult for people who take this form of action? Also do i need to claim seperatley for each account or can i claim for both at the same time? Are they likely to close my account?

    Sorry for all the questions!

    Hiya monica,

    Welcome.

Go for it, you have nothing to lose. Its quite straight forward really ( ) get your statements on line if you can through your online banking if you have it, that will save you about five weeks, then jot down all the charges from each account (do it seperately) add it up then send it off to hsbc with first template letter, you will receive a reply back saying they are looking into it within a week normally , they will take eight weeks though to investigate:eek: , you can stick your own timetable of 2 wks then proceed with next letter or wait the eight weeks, alot of us claiming from hsbc have found though that waiting the 8wks is the quickest route but you wont necessarily get back the whole amount or the interest unless you take it as ar as court. The decision is yours. Have a read through this forum and your find lots of advise. As far as i am aware they are not closing any accounts.

So get started and work out what your owed.

  • Morning All,

Started my claim about 3 weeks ago, worked out my charges of £1,552 and sent asking for them back. Got the standard mail merge letter saying they have 8 weeks and are investigating. I dont want to miss out on claiming my money back so i threatened court action on the first letter but didnt do it straight away as its going to cost me £120 to do the court bit, but ive got it now so am going to start court proceedings, while going throught the moneyclaim website there is a part to claim interest? in my first letter i didnt request any interest, just the charges back, can i now claim interest on this now or do i have to stick to just the charges?, ive worked it out to another £419 interest for 4 years :D

    Many thanks

I've just worked out all my charges and interest and just wanted to check with other HSBC customers which address they have sent their letters to. Do I have to send it to my local branch or to a head office address?
