Hiya!
Hope this merged thread is the right place to post this!
I sent letter 2 on May 16th to HSBC claiming £charges+interest as per calculator, to £1130ish.
I got a letter back saying they would look into it fairly promptly.
Clearly, that was a while ago now, and still no news.
I suspect I've waited too long.
Should I threaten legals now? Is the letter at step 4 (letter5.rtf) suitably amended the best instrument? Is it better to hold out for the lot or offer to settle for a grand or so?
I could really do with the money reasonably soon if it's coming, due to ever changing personal circs...
Cheers!

Sorry, should have asked on last post!
And on the letter threatening legals, should i be addressing it to the local branch in question, the address in Leeds the 'we'll look into it now please try to forget you asked' letter came from or Canada Square?
Also, for future ref, I do use my own local county court if required don't I?
Cheers again!

they are generally paying out on 8wks, so by my reckoning you should be there now. Send them an email through your banking online, normally get response within day or so. Also try ringing them. Be patient you will get payout eventually.

Hi Potiphar
My claim was logged with HSBC on 14th May and I received an offer yesterday so yours should be nearly resolved. I phoned Leeds and they told me I should hear something within 7-10 days so I emailed through the online banking service and received a reply and offer the next day. I have not claimed for interest, if you definitely want interest then you have to go to court, only they can award it as far as I am aware. Try emailing and see if they come back with an offer, if you dont want to accept then you can decide whether to take it further. I couldnt wait any longer and was worried taking the legal route could add weeks or months on to the waiting time. I was claiming £1100 (without interest) and was offered £1024.25.
Good luck with what ever you decide.

Lou,
Would I literally send them the text of the letter threatening legals in 14 days via the email method you suggest?
Thanks!

Thanks, Tilly!
I'll give them a call and see what they're saying before sending anything else then.....

:jHi all
I finally got e mail, after chasing yesterday as my eight weeks was up, heard back from Heidi offering me £1,857. Was claiming £2,333. Was so pleased that at last its nearly over. NOW A DIFFERENT PROBLEM  Have been pondering a bit though whether to ask for bit more as theres still a shortfall of just under £500. I ve not been an ideal customer and agree that they have to make something from you, but £500 less is still quite a bit.
There is noway i will go down court route, but was wondering if anyone has had any luck asking for more via e mail or telephone and how they got on. If they say to me that i will need to write and wait for a response, i shall leave it as i desperately need to get money into bank.
As i say i am really pleased but (maybe being greedy) £2,000 would have been better.
Any ideas
:rotfl: JUST NO PLEASING ME IS THERE :rotfl:

Just send a personal message, telling them how long you have waited ask them when you can expect to hear with a mutually agreed offer. You will get a reply from a lady called Heidi within a day or so, i found e mail was the quickes way of chasing it up.
Good luck and let us know how you get on

Can anyone answer the following question......
Claimed - £1470.00
Offered - £1398.25
I have been reading this site for a few months but never posted. We started our claim against HSBC in April and got the normal 'It will take upto 8 weeks to investigate' letter. After 8 weeks a letter arrived offering 95% of what we were claiming.
On the offer letter it says please allow 14 days for the money to be in the bank. What is everyones experience of this 14 day period.... is it set in stone or is it normally quicker.
Many Thanks
Russ and Victoria
P.S. :money: FOR PRIME MINISTER!!!!
Its the second time ive posted it today, but no one seem to want to reply.
thanks0
