I have received the standard offer letter - offering £2700 against my £5000 claim (excluding interest) so I am writing to HSBC to tell them it's no good. Anyone in the know have thoughts on the following as the wording for my letter?
Also, is this the right thing to do?
I am writing with regards your letter of 22nd June, 2007 in which you are offering a settlement payment of £2788.66 in respect the above case for reclamation of penalty charges passed during the passed 6 years.
<O:p</O:p
The amount you have offered represents less than 60% of the total amount owed.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p
I find the stated settlement figure to be unacceptable and that the matter should proceed to Court.<O:p</O:p
We missed out on the reclaim of nearly £5000 bank charges from HSBC, but picked up over £10000 in PPI claims against them instead. I am now debt free and working to help my other half clear hers0 -

:j Further to my post yesterday I followed up my phone call with an email message through the online banking service asking for a date of when I could expect a 'favourable outcome' to my claim. Wasn't holding out much hope of getting a reply as had already been told I would hear something in 7-10 days. Just checked my messages and have received the followingAFter reviewing our records, I confirm that a letter for Bank Account (****) has been sent to your correspondence address offering you a refund of GBP1024.25.
I initiated this claim by email on 14 May and only sent one follow up letter with a full list of the charges. I am delighted!
Hang on in there everyone, there is light at the end of the tunnel! And thanks to all the help and advice from everyone too. Thank you Martin for bringing this all to light :money: .
I'll still be on here as I have another claim which is up on 31 July so i'll be hoping to post a similar response then.

Hi Lou
I'm still smilingalthough stressed also! Yes, Heidi is lovely:rolleyes: but still turned me down!! Never mind, the fight goes on. Don't think I'll get the 12k as i don't think the FO get you that. (my font's gone funny & don't know why??!!) it was disappointing at the time not to get an offer, but i can't be defeated by this, so honestly the wait does get me down, but there's nowt you can do about it. Hang on in there, you might be rich beyond you're wildest dreams next wk!!

I was claiming £1050.00, not sure where the odd £25.75 has gone but I'm not going to argue about it!!

I had the samething happen this month, if you send them an e-message through internet banking stating that this is a new charge, they`ll will add it on.
I emailed them on Thursday to say so and a nice lady Heidi said she would add it to my claim.
Try and do that!
Bingobella
I called them and they said they wouldnt be able to do this and that i would need to go through the same channels again as they would only pay up to the 17th June.
However i'm going to try what you suggested and email them through the online banking and see what they say - i just dont want it to hold up them putting the money in my account because i could really do with having the cash!!0 -

Well it turns out i'm one of the 85% ers then. (well 86%)
Got an offer today of 2,824.83 without prejudice and a reminder i'd already had some of my charges back (which is true). The figure quoted at the top of the letter was my original claim for 4085 (inc interest) so i'm not sure if Heidi did transfer the extra £89 chrges over, but on the payment it did say that inc £39 to be charged end of June. Its £485 less than my original claim, but I think i'm going to take it as I can't go through anymore hassle. This 8 weeks seemed of taken a lifetime, lol, and trying to get my money back has taken over my life. I'm after Egg now, so we'll see what happens thereWage Day Advance, Quick Quid, Pounds to Pocket and Pounds Till Payday....i'm after you0
