Hi Flyboy
I have recently claimed back 1466 from hsbc, i originally asked for 2037. according to them my figures were wrong and in fact came to 1990, i also ha
d 185 refunded previously hence the offer of 1466.
I spoke to one of the managers of the dept dealing with the claims and she told me that, they will not pay interest (unless it goes to court) and that they keep 10-15% back as they have to cover their initial costs. they are usually pretty good at responding within the 8 weeks no more than a day or two over. all in all the vast majority of claims will be offered a pretty good refund, i believe 85-90% of the initial claim is pretty good and would advise anyone to take it. I had written this money off some time ago, so to receive just short of 1.5k is fantastic..
Hope this helps

Does anyone know for certain if you can claim more than 6 year's charges? I've got every bank statement going way back, with plenty of charges on them. Does the six year limit apply to requesting old bank statements, or reclaiming bank charges? Any advice would be appreciated.0

Have a look at pg 174 garysumpter, this happened to him about a week ago, he telephoned them.
I did notice that he has posted on the bank success forum a couple of days ago to say he has now received offer letter, so hopefully they should still stick to the eight weeks from the date of your original letter.
good luck let us know how you get on

Good news this morning!.... i think
Spoke to my local court who have informed me they have put a "stay" on the case, this basically means that HSBC have a nice letter informing them that the case is being awarded to me unless they can provide ample information that they intend to take me all the way through the courts and not just pull out at the last minute.
Apparently this is standard now in some courts due to banks wasting so much court time.
anyone else had anything similar?0 -
Hello,
My court date is set for 23 July.
I sent the copies of my court bundle to the court and to DG Solicitors a month ago.
From what I can tell, other people who have done this have received a full offer a few days later. Like I say, it's been a month for me and I've heard nothing. I've not even been able to contact DG Solicitors to confirm that they've received my bundle.
I'm about to send the bundle again, this time directly to HSBC. Is that what other people have done?
And does anyone know which address I should send it to?
Thanks.0 -
We had charges of over £2000 on our account, and wrote to HSBC about 3 months ago asking for the charges back. It's been a long wait, and we sent a letter threatening court action, but have recieved a letter offering about £350 less than what we were charged. Seems a fair offer, which we are going to accept.
We also owed HSBC money for one of our accounts, and they have written to say that part of the money will be used to repay that, with us recieving a cheque for the rest. So if anyone has a debt with HSBC, this may affect you too.
Overall we are VERY happy with Martin's advice, which has helped us pursue these claims. It's taken a lot of time and patience to recieve our offer from the bank, but was definately worth pursuing.

Hi
Am about to sent 2 letters recorded off to HSBC requesting my charges back. This is one letter per account as suggested to me previously. Would i continue with this (1 letter per account) if i have to pay court fees ect, as it could get expensive when both account are at the same branch?
Lastly I did have a credit card with HSBC that i know i had charges on. The problem is i no longer have the card or statments ect. How would i go about finding my old credit card charges without the details?
Hope someone can help
