Can anyone comment on this?
I have been told my offer letter has been sent and will be here tomorrow or Monday, so i'll be sure to post once it arrives.

They are following their complaint procedures which give them 8 weeks and then you can go to the Financial Ombudsman if you are not happy with what they come up with. If you don't want to go down this route, forget everything that person said and file a court claim. You have every right to do that and don't have to wait 8 weeks for it. This CS person just wanted you to go away which is why she spouted all that BS about the info on the net being incorrect. The only one trying to mislead you is the bank, I am afraid.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Hi
I used the online messenger facility and they always came back to me within a day using this, my approach was to be polite when asking the question you have - it worked for me but I appreciate it hasnt for others. Just tell them that your 8 week date has passed and ask if there is any progress on your claim.
Good luck0 -

They said that they had the right to with hold 15 - 30% of the claim and don't even entertain paying interest on the claims!(?) Reading through here I don't see that as the case. They have advised us to write back saying what we'd be happy to accept and they will respond.
Any advice? I was going to write and say we'd be happy to settle the claim for charges only and forget the interest.
Views greatly accepted. Thanks
Interest can only be awarded by the courts so if you haven't gone down that route then I would ask them to pay back the full amount of the charges and see how far you get,
Good luck

Thanks for that Kez, although with our First Direct claim, they offered the full claim plus some of the interest. Have drafted a letter to HSBC saying we'll accept the full amount on both less the interest.
Will keep you posted with progress, but postal strike not going to help!!!0 -

They can pay it if they're feeling generous but they don't have to if it hasn't gone down the court routethere certainly isn't any harm in trying
Good luck with your claims :jMember & fundraiser for Meningitis Research Foundation0 -
hi, hsbc entered a defence today, they have also sent me an offer of 1200 of the 1500 asked for, i gather i definatly have to go to court now? cant just accept the offer and cancel the claim? i phoned hsbc the other day before they entered a defence and they said as its going through court now i cant accept their offer anyway.. is this true? what documentation will i have to take to court with me if i have to? thanks..0

I started the process back in February and last week I took the final stage of starting the small claims process. My claim is for £326 (£296 plus interest), which isn't the biggest claim in the world but to me is a lot of money.
Two days ago I received a letter from HSBC saying they would offer me a settlement of £295 to cover the charges but would not pay the interest. Had I not paid £50 to start the small claims procedure I would have accepted but I'm annoyed that I only paid this £50 out last week and am really tempted to hold out for the interest plus costs back (if I should win of course!).
I have 14 days to let them know what I want to do. What do you think I should do?0 -
Finally received a letter offering roughly 70% of my claim, which I plan to suggest they pay a little more!
However they are saying they "are not prepared to refund interest as we do not accept that this is appropiate".
Have spent an hour searching various threads for advice on this but to no avail, so sorry if I have missed it but for the sake of my eyes can anyone through any light onto this area please?
Also is there any set % which the banks will pay out without having to take court action?
Cheers guys. x:j (not sure what this fella means but he's quite cute!)0
