Hi Trikkinikki,trikkinikki wrote: »Hi Everyone,
I've received an offer today via the personal message facility, my original letter to Leeds was dated 26th April and I've received this offer right on the eight week button. I'm not too clear at this point what exactly they have offered to me as all my paperwork is at work, I claimed against two accounts both amounting to £1,300ish each but only one account number is quoted on the e message with an offer of £1173.85 which is the amount of only one claim - could they have offered this against both my claims? They have said that an offer letter dated 22nd June is on its way so maybe that will tell me more.
Anyway I just wanted to say that it took eight weeks exactly to get an offer after two letters sent in April and three polite chase up e messages from me.
I never threatened court action any point just stayed patient and persistant!! Just hope they havent lost the second claim now!!
What did you say in the email message to the bank I am waiting the 8 weeks and just wanted to send a message via email chasing them up but don`t know what to write. Can you Help??

in small claims system + intrest + my 150 charge + 2150.
HSBC have said they will defend the claim.

then out of the blue a reply to my first letter offering 1300!
Do i accept? or wait another 20 days??

Go back to them and negotiate for your full claim plus your court costs as they are likely to pay this.0

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can help me at all. I have had an offer from HSBC today. I am trying to claim 1451 and they have offered 841!!
I think its too low so i am going to reject it, I phoned them up and the woman stated that I need to send the acceptance letter back with a reason why I am not going to accept.
2 questions I have....What should I put at the bottom
and can I not just email them? at least I know it gets to them if I email them?
any ideas
Thanks

Hi Bingobella,
I wrote a few days before and asked them how my claim were progressing (make sure you put your sort code and account numbers on the note) and pointed out very politely that the eight weeks is up in a couple of days. They came back the next day and said that they are dealing with it and thanked me for my patience. Then on the eight week deadline day I wrote again and asked if there was a light at the end of the tunnel as the time is now up, they came back again the next day and said that an offer letter dated the 22nd June is on its way to me and that I have 14 days to accept the offer as full and final settlement of the matter. I then wrote back and asked about my second claim and again they came straight back and confirmed the second offer. I was never humpy with them and always wrote in a slightly humorous way - maybe this helped who knows! I am now waiting for the letters to arrive - and of course I will be accepting the offers!
Hope this helps - good luck.0 -

Hi All,
I wrote a letter to HSBC reclaiming my bank charges on the 22nd May 2007. I did not include a list of charges, just used Martins template asking for a specific amount.
They then wrote back to me thanking me for my letter and in order to consider my request could I please send a full breakdown of charges, which I did on the 7th June 2007.
I still have had no reply and was wondering if anyone knew when they had to get back to me and what the next step is from here.
Should I write to them again reffering to my letter and asking for a reply?
Many thanks in advance.0 -

They will have entered you into their complaints procedure and they are allowed 8 weeks total to reply to you. If you wish to use the ombudmsman to resolve the issue you must allow this time. Writing a letter and asking for a reply will probably elicit a response along the lines of the information I have just given.
If you wish to follow the court route then you dont have to allow them this time and need merely to show the court you have given them ample oppertunity to respond to and deal with your complaint. 14 days is reasonable and especially considering that they have dealt with and settled thousands of cases of this nature in the recent past. They really should have a system in place by now, one would think !
You can allow 14 days from the date of your letter and then proceed to the next step as laid out in the main article. This would be your LBA (Letter Before Action).
Good luck
