Eight weeks is their standard response time but can sometimes take a week or two more.
You need to phone them and see whether an offer has yet been sorted, once they have said this you can expect to receive a letter within 10 days, you then sign letter send it back and wait for upto two weeks for it to be credited to your account. (these are a rough times that people have experienced)
If you go to hsbc merged website there are loads of us on there at the same sort of stage.
Good luck

The letter needs updating. Just put something like "the court will find in my favour". Hopefully, it won't get that far.
If any bank threatens to close an account because you are reclaiming unlawful charges, report them to the Financial Ombudsman. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
thanks that really helps, have you managed to reclaim your charges??0

HI,
Iam just wondering if anyone can shed some light for me.
I requested my last 6 years bank statement from HSBC a few days ago, so don't know what my charges are as yet! Can anyone tell me what their time frames are for paying out?
I plan to use the FOS as I have had 2 successful claims with them and they both took about 6 weeks. I am just suspecting that HSBC will be slightly longer and playing hard to get. Am I right?...I say this as I used to work for them:eek: LOL!!!0 -
I'm now playing the waiting game.
I've received a court date for the 23rd July at West London County Court. I sent my court bundle to DG Solicitors and to the court about 3 or 4 weeks ago now.
I've still not recevied an offer or had any further correspondence from DG.
Has anyone else been in this position? Are they likely to go all the way to court with this?0 -

Good luck Lou, Try what I did using the email way, send a gentle reminder now then they will tell you that they have eight weeks to respond, then the day before the eight weeks is up send them another polite question asking for a favourable response, they will then hopefully let you have a nice reply!
Let us know how you get on.0 -
im a marketing manager, and i kinda know few things about marketing, im going to be donating any money i win back from banks to the local charities to get more coverage in local papers, why? well its a good cause for one plus its only fair that other people who want to claim should know about it, just wanted to let people know:cool:0

I e mailed them a couple of days ago just for an update, had response back within a couple of hours, basically saying, thankyou for your patience and that they are in the midst of my claim.
So i definately agree e mailing them through the secure banking system is the best way to just give them a gently nudge.
My eight weeks is up on the 3rd July but when i spoke to them about six weeks ago they said it took them a week to process onto computer so they say eight weeks is on 11th July, i shall try and push it for an offer around the beginning of July though.

Hi upthewall,
You will need to wait 40days for statements to come through, but if you have online banking you can get all your charges on there, will save you six weeks.
Once you have sent first letter to hsbc normally giving them 2wks to reply, you will normally after one wk get a reply saying they are looking into the matter, they then have eight wks to make you an offer, (most people are being paid out this way waiting the eight weeks then chasing and getting an offer, can take a few more weeks than 8wks though. Or you can stick to your own timetable and not wait and go down the court route. Entirely upto you, personally hsbc seem to be quicker in sorting when given the 8wks to reply.
Hope this helps if you read back on this forum you will see lots of peoples views and successes.
