Hi Everyone
I sent a letter on 14th Dec requesting a statement of all my charges from HSBC over the last six years together with a cheque for £10.
On the 3rd Jan I received a letter with the cheque returned    and duplicate copies of bank statements from Aug 2004 to March 2006. They say they will be sending more statements later on and they come in batches and they are "happy to cover any fees for production of tis nformation"
My 40 days time limit expires on 23rd Jan so if I dont receive anything further before then what do I do?
Thanks in advance0 -
The bank only has a maximum 40 days to respond. If you don’t get a reply, follow up with a phone call and then report it to the Information Commissioner for a breach.0

Thanks for that. I was wondering that as they have partially responded by sending some of my statements has that in anyway gained them more time for the 40 days.
Also, has anyone noticed a new HSBC approach or has it been consistent for say the last 6 months?
 Finally do the timscales vary from person to person and does the way that the account is managed (i.e very active with lots of useage, where the would like your business, compared to very little activity whrer they couldn't careless) effect the way each claim is handled?
I ask these questions as people are getting varying results but they are all claiming from one central place.
Excellent Forum BTW and I'm trying many of these "MSE" projects out - keep up the good work. :grouphug:0 -
Hi folks
Am doing a reclaim for a friend with HSBC, but on his statements are
'Total Charges'
It is unclear if these are normal operating charges or penalty.
Does anyone know!?!
£27.50 seems a bit steep!

Did you send them a print out from the online calculator?http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1141050760,24632,
Thats what Is suggested !
we'll at least i hopeIf i;ve read it right!
Do i have to tell them what the actuall charge is for . I have given them the DATE and the amount of the charge.
Will it save time if i send them a list of the charges again stating exactly what they are for? ( on some of them it just says total charges to 13 Dec £XX it doesnt actually say what they are for, Yet somtimes it says what they are for and gives the amount)
Thanks JIM0 -
hi! I received a letter today from HSBC, for one of my claims (i have made 2 claims on 2 seperate accounts) The amount owed to me for this claim, is £2123.32, and they have offered me £1804.82.. I would have refused this anyway, but i have already made a claim on moneyclaim now (did it on friday)
it says in the letter that if they don't hear from me then they will take it i have refused the offer, so do i just ignore it and watch and wait on moneyclaim now?
My status on moneyclaim now says 'issued' do they have 14 days from this date nowto acknowledge does anyone know?

Update:
I called HSBC today, they said they are not adhering to the times being prescribed by claimants in letters, as the banking ombudsman allows them 8 weeks (as long as they contact the complainant on receipt of the initial complaint), and they have an increasing number of people claiming charges back.
They have said that they will contact me within the next 7 days with an offer on my claim, and would ask me to delay court proceedings until I have received the offer and responded, as they are investigating the claim, but had a volume of claims to investigate, they could not tell me what the offer would be, but said in the majority of cases under £1000, they are making good offers.
They have received both letters I took into branches and said that they acknowledged letters delivered by hand to be as 'thingy' (sorry can't think of the word) as those delivered by recorded. Branches are under instruction to forward letters received in branch immediately and forward an electronic copy of the letter to the team in Leeds within 24hrs of receipt.

Please can anyone help. Am claiming £1804 plus the 8% interest from HSBC and they've said they'll defend the claim. They've now got 28 days to do so. I called the court as I've not sent any documents to HSBC's sols or the court other than the online claim form. The court say I don't have to send anything to them or HSBC now. I've read though that other people have sent the breakdown of the claim to the court and HSBC sols (DG).
Should I now be doing anything else or just wait till the 28 days is up to see if they go any further?
Thanks for your help. I'm so worried about this now. I can see why people drop out and cancel their claim.
Thanks
