  • i got a similar letter yesterday from them but saying they will get back to me by 31st jan... i went straight on moneyclaim and started my claims! The general advice that is followed on here is to stick to your timescales and ignore their delaying tactics! good luck!

  • Ahaha, thats the only nudge I need. Thanks Princess...
  • Hello all.. I wonder if anyone can help.

I've claimed £1800 from HSBC bank. I've written all the letters and filed an online claim on 31st December. They've written to say they'll defend the claim.

I'm worried as loads of people have had money back from HSBC without even filing a claim, and for more than I'm claiming.

Do you think the banks are fighting back? Am I likely to lose and lose my £120.00 court fee?

Really worried now so your advice would be appreicated.

    Thanks so much
    Lucy

oh by the way, RBS paid up the £250 owed after 2 letters.

I too got a letter today from the infamous Mr Colin Langdale from HSBC apologising for the delay and informing me I should get a response by the 6th Feb.... I had alread taken in a letter to my branch yesterday giving them 7days to resolve it so just sent a copy to the HQ in Leeds... so we'll see what happens.

Also got my statement yesterday stating they are deducting another £150.00 in bank charges on the 15th Jan... what do I do about this?

I'm quite willing to take them to court... they need to realise that the massive debt problems affecting young people today is all because of them!!!!!
  • Mine was from 'Colin Langdale' also... The SENIOR Services Quality Officer.. Ahaha...

    February 2nd? Pah....!!
  • mine also from the famous colin, however he gave no date on mine
However have put in a claim on line on 22/12/06
Cant wait around for their investigations to take place

  • Presumably your letter will have crossed in the post so I would wait and see if they reply to your LBA letter and follow your timescale.

Not posted the letter yet, not sure now whether to send it or not.

Hi, we recently incurred two charges for non payment of direct debits (with HSBC) of £30 each, now is there anyway I can get them to reduce it to the minimum amount recommended by (was it the financial ombudsman?) something like £12? I don't want to try and claim it back since they'll probably shut the account and its the one we use for house bills so I won't be Mr popular. Or is asking them to reduce likely to just annoy them in the same way?

You could call them and ask for a "gesture of goodwill". You just might be lucky, all depends on how you manage your account
