Hey guys (again!)
Further to my posts this morning my second offer letter for my other HSBC bank account came through this morning (2 days after the other came, even though they were posted on the same day!)
They have offered me £1572.80. I was claiming £1836.00. I am going to accept this to be honest, as I dont want to go the court route and it was money I thought was lost forever!
So in total, I was claming £2298.57. They are paying me back £2059.50. Thats 89.5% of my money back! Fair play!
Tracepppp - I really hope you get your letter soon - it seems Royal Mail arent doing very well on the postage thing...Keep us up to date!
All the best everyone and MArtin, thanks for a GREAT site. Without this and everyone else's posts, I would not have been able to claim this money back and pay for my maternity leave I am due to take in November!

Anyway i was so mad that i rang them....
NO HELP WHAT SO EVER!!
Said as my account was closed they couldnt see my details and i would have to speak to my branch...so i aske dto be put through....little did i know this would be an M15 investigation?!!? couldnt put me thorugh surprise! Spoke to lots of intermediates who tried to fob me off with the 8 week banter and that some could see my details and some couldnt
So i threatened them with court and have written a letter saying that unless i get a satisfactory response i will be commencing court proccedings on the 22nd June (end of final 14 days) so it'll be interesting to see if they respond....this has also gone R/D so they have no excuses...!

I'm sorry to say I don't think you'll hear anything from HSBC. They are being pretty ridgid with the 8 weeks thing. Did you send your letters recorded? If so then the 8 weeks starts on the day the first is loaded onto the computer system. I'm not aware of anyone who has managed to be successful in getting an answer out of them early, yet every claiment seems to of had a response on or around the 8 week mark with an offer.
I hope you get a response out of them quickly. Its frustrating when an account isn't open anymore. My HSBC credit card is long gone, and I can't see it on the internet, but some people at HSBC can.Wage Day Advance, Quick Quid, Pounds to Pocket and Pounds Till Payday....i'm after you0 -

Hi
Best of luck they do seem to making people wait the 8wks, they will pay out eventually but have plenty of stalling tactics in place.
let us all know how you get on
You would think with the amount of claims they are getting they would just pay up quickly, just making so much more work for themselves , plus once you go down the court route you will be entitled to more because of the interest being added.

Im completely confused now, why have they sent it business class, it only needs a first class stamp on it. Bet you are absolutely fuming. Whats the difference sending something 1st class compared to business class apart from time being delivered.
helsboof has had both his letters of settlement through they were posted 1st class, admittidly they came on different days, but still received within a reasonable time.
Think when i owe someone money i ll tell them ive sent it business class:rotfl: bet i wouldn t get away with that and i would be charged for late payment.
Think hsbc are treating you really bad.
keep me posted

However, if they claim not not to know what they were actually for then I assume they cannot possible defend themselves without admitting that they lied in their letter to me?

I've just recieved an offer letter for £820 - the total charges were about £1025 and with interest came to £1162.67. I am pretty happy with this as this is money I thought I was never going to see again but I would like to give HSBC a bit of a push to see if I can get the total charges back and perhaps even a bit of the interest I was claiming - who do I call, the Service Management team in Leeds again? And what are people's tips on what to say?
Everyone else - stick in there! You will get a letter eventually! This money will go a long way towards a trip to Australia to see my parents, thanks HSBC!Got £820 back from HSBC! Now entering comps like mad with the hope of winning a nice long holiday....0
