unbelievable isnt it, will they not let you know what offer they have made you, at least that would put your mind at rest. If they cant tell you why not, its your money

Moning Guys/Girls.
I am new to this forum as my bank are really starting to irate me with their constant ineptness.
After reading Martin's guide, I sent HSBC a letter detailing that I was unhappy with the bank charges and expected a full refund within 14 days.
Soon enough I received a letter from not my branch but someone at their HQ in Canary Wharf detailing that they will be investigating the issue.
Since then I have sent my local branch 2 letters dated 15/05 and also 31/05 stating that I was not happy with the response and will seek legal advise etc (Using the template letter on the web page)
However as of June 14th, I have received no such letters or communication with HSBC regarding my case.
Which leaves me in an awkward position.
.....oh I sent them the original request for repaid charges on 28/04/2007 before I received a letter detailing they will investigate my case.
what do I do?
Shall I seek advice legal advice?
Send another letter?
Or as having read the froum call the number listed on the letter HSBC sent me in early May?
Any information / help will be most welcome.
Thanks0 -
Morning,
I have sent HSBC two letters stating that if i do no receive payment within 14days I will seek legal advice etc. (using Martin's template)
These letters were sent on 15/05 & 31/05, and as of 14th June still no response.
I had sent the letters to my local branch, simply addressed to HSBC as I had no contact name - was that wise? or shall I send the next letter to their HQ and to the person who stated they will be "investigating my case"
Thanks0 -

The letters saying that they are investigating and will reply sometime between now and the next ice age are little more than acknowledgements of receipt and attempts to make you give up and go away.
Your first claim letter should give them 14 days to reply. If you have not received an acceptable reply by your deadline, send them the second “Letter Before Action” letter. At this point, you have to decide between referring your claim to the Financial Ombudsman or starting court proceedings.
If you threaten to refer your claim to the Financial Ombudsman, give them until 8 weeks from the date of your first letter to reply. However, if the bank either suggests that you now refer your claim to the Financial Ombudsman or says a definite no, then you can refer your claim to the Financial Ombudsman straight away. If you have not received any reply for the 8 weeks, then you can refer your claim to the Financial Ombudsman.
If you threaten to start court proceedings, give them 14 days to reply. If you have not received an acceptable reply by this deadline, then start court proceedings on Money Claim Online.

Seriously though Stephen.
In your experience should I have made a letter out to the local branch or to HSBC HQ?
Thanks0 -
They charged my other half £25 for going overdrawn for one night as we forgot to cancel a DD into his savings account. He was overdrawn by 6.70 and the morning after when we noticed it on the internet put the money back. A few weeks later they take £25 from him. I have writen a letter to my branch over two weeks ago and heard nothing
I can't really be bothered to go to court for £25 but still want it back. Any advice appreciated.
Should I send it special delivery or to their headquarters or just phone them?
Are many people experiencing problems with HSBC as I have heard of other banks refunding smaller fees without any fuss?Don't ever be anybody's slogan because you are poetry
