I've just recieved an offer letter for £820 - the total charges were about £1025 and with interest came to £1162.67. I am pretty happy with this as this is money I thought I was never going to see again but I would like to give HSBC a bit of a push to see if I can get the total charges back and perhaps even a bit of the interest I was claiming - who do I call, the Service Management team in Leeds again? And what are people's tips on what to say?

Everyone else - stick in there! You will get a letter eventually! This money will go a long way towards a trip to Australia to see my parents, thanks HSBC!

Hi Danielle. That's great news getting an offer, how long did it take? I'm claiming 2 amounts, one is for £1055 but I wouldnt want to accept £820. Trouble is I wouldnt want to give them any reason to prolong the wait and I dont want to go down the court route so I guess I wont have any choice if they wont budge. It seems a fair few people on here have haggled over the phone and got a better offer though so I think you have a good chance. I would presume you ring the Service Management Team. Let me know what you say and then I can say the same if my offer is too low!!

    Keep us posted.

From getting the bank statements thru to the offer letter today took three and a bit months - I am so glad I don't have to go down the court route and I once trained as a lawyer!

Danielle, have you sat out and waited the 8weeks, or filed with MCOL? You aren't entitled to any interest unless a judge awards it to you through court, so you would have a hard case to go for it. However I would ask about the extra £205. I'm not at that stage yet (hopefully hear in next 10 days) but from reading the posts in this HSBC thread, a lot of people have had success trying to haggle. Ring the service management team in Leeds, and tell them you'll only accept the £1025. By the looks of things they will prob give you it (don't hold me to that, lol). The only way the banks are paying out interest is if you have filed through MCOL and they have lost in court/pay out before court.

    Good luck

Can anybody give some advice......I am at the point in claiming my charges back from the HSBC where I have sent the first letter first asking for a full refund.

I received a standard response back on May 25th saying that they are investigating my claim. I have read in other threads that this can take up to eight weeks, should I give them the time or press ahead and send the second letter threatening to take action? I would prefer not to get involved in the court if at all possible.

    Any Advice ?

I ended up sending both letters in the process set out by martin - not sure if the second one made any difference. I called them to find out exactly what the date they'll make the decision and send the letter out was and then on that date called them and hassled them and made sure they sent the letter out!

i won t type what i said aloud when i read your message, it is absolutley disgraceful. Have you phoned them, how dare they tell you a letter had been sent, they are liars, if you havent phoned them then do! i would put a complaint into financial odbusman immediately and tell them what has happened. The staff have lied to you time after time im sure that is breaking the bank code. if they won t offer you settlement over phone today inform them you are now entitled to all the interest.

    SO SO SO SORRY

WISH THEIR WAS SOMETHING WE COULD DO TO HELP.

DON T GIVE UP KEEP PHONING THEM
