I am just wondering though, when you say from the first request letter going on their system, do you mean the letter asking for the statements (mine dated 12 march) or the letter requesting the actual charges (mine dated 1 May)? I have sent the second letter threatening court on 10th May and that gives 14 days to reply. Did you send that letter, and if so, how did you leave it then till 8 weeks was up when the last letter to them states they have to reply within 14 days? Also. how did you find out when the first letter went onto their system? Thanks for your help again. Debbie
Hi Debbie
Got my statements online, the first letter I meant was the one actually requesting a refund of charges, never got to sending the second letter threatening court ( L.B.A ) as didn't want to threaten then not be able to follow through, so waited until I could afford to go ahead with court action and as I said realised it was 7 weeks since sending the 1st letter asking for refund so thought I'd wait the extra week ... If you ring the number on the bottom of their acknowledgement of your letter (08456 028006) this is the service management centre in Leeds that deals with the refunds, they will be able to tell you the progress on your claim and when it was logged on their system (can be quite a wait for a pick up). Hopefully your 1st letter, 1st may, went on their system around the 4th of may then they will count the 8 weeks from there, but you need to get the exact date from them...
Again Debbie this was only my experience of dealing with them so you have to decide the way you want to go with your claim..
Hope this helpful..0 -
Hi Dustybin, my son also received the same letter from HSBC. But ours was dated 27 April. And we are at a loss as to what action we should take next. We have read and re-read all the help, but theres so much of it. And sometimes all the advice is overwhelming.
Good luck reclaiming all your money.

Hi
I'm claiming £500 for my son including interest & court fees. Had an offer today for £300. I know only the court can award the interest but as we are in the process of having his case transferred to the local court can we include the interest in any negotiations at this stage.0 -

Chelsie - You are entitled to interest once you enter the court system, whether you file online or not. If you're being transferred to your local court you're already entitled to the interest. If you're talking about negotiating, it's down to you what amount you are prepared to accept. Best thing is to have a figure in mind that you're not prepared to dip below and go for it. Good luck.Lou0 -
Account 1: Claimed: £3438.00 plus £600.49 interest
Account 2: Claimed: £1055.00 plus £93.82 interest
Handed in a letter to my branch 2 weeks ago asking for full summary of charges over last 6 years but heard nothing so decided to do the leg work myself, rather than waiting the full 40 days stated in the letter. Went back over my online statements and added up charges myself. Sent letter with claim amount inc interest on first account today 1st class recorded delivery direct to Service Quality Team. Have prepared letter for second account and will be sending same way tomorrow.
I guess all I can do now is wait with my fingers crossed!:undecided0 -

Im claiming £1109.52 from hsbc, i posted my first letter on the 19th May 2007, and have recieved a response this morning 30th May 2007. The letter states
"I am looking into the matters you have raised and will contact you with a full response as soon as I have completed my investigations"
What do I need to do now, is this just a tactic to simply brush me aside, or is it likely to be a genuine letter and i am gonna hear from them?
Any help greatly recieved
Jamie
Standard mate , dont worry about this . You should get an offer 8 weeks from receipt of you requesting your charges back. However , you can also use the templates to threaten court and go down that route but to be honest from my claim HSBC said it wouldnt of made any difference, they seem to be working to 8 week deadlines , mine was 8 weeks 5 days ! . Sit tight , be patient , if you dont hear anything then ring them up when it gets past 6 weeks.
It will all be ok , just have to have bit of patience
Good luck
ps did you send your charges request recorded delivery incidently ?HSBC Claimed £2519 , Paid £2300 - cheque recieved
Capital One Claimed £300 , £144 offered , court threat 09/05

Hi Jamie
It's standard for them to send this letter out. Keep to your time scales send them another letter about 14 days after your first letter, then just keep to the time scales set out my Martin. If your like me and cann't afford to go to court send them letters, email them and phone them at Leeds. Look back through some of the threads that have been posted over the last few works lots of tips and the address for the service quality team based at Leeds..
P.s Don't give up i have just been offered just under £2700, so believe me its worth it..0 -
